Space X launch

Absofreakinglutely I am! Right up until they stop broadcasting, or until they scrub the launch on account of the weather, whichever comes first. I've been waiting for this kind of stuff all my life.... I watched a special last night on "Discovery" with Elon Musk. One of the engineers described the boosters returning to Earth and landing as dropping a pecil off the Empire State Building, having it land on the eraser, on a postage stamp. While it sounds impossible, it can be done. That's what engineers do. On another note, a friend of mine in Tucson suggested they should've built the space port in Tucson, where it never rains, and never will again. I said, they did it the way they did so failures would just go "splooonk" in the Atlantic, instead of potentially populated areas. He may, of course have been pulling my leg....

Yeah, I can’t remember the last time I was able to watch a space launch. I used to live for this stuff when I was a kid. I can’t believe how automated everything is on this newest rocket. Amazing!

Oooh! Lots to check out, thanks!

These would make a nice bike helmet.
Kinda retro from the back.

And all Buck Rogers in front.

The Falcon Heavy reminds me of the Phoenix from Star Trek : First Contact, before it deploys the warp nacelles. Unfortunately, we're not ready for that yet. Warp physics doesn't allow you to go faster than the speed of light by breaking the laws of physics, it sidesteps them by being a whole different set of laws on their own. (For reference, see "Alcubierre")

Yeah, 'Dude, the new suits look so much less bulky than the NASA shuttle suits. It makes me wonder if NASA simply overdesigned the hell out of them for safety, or what? And the interior of the Dragon ship looks like it's gonna be the next ride experience at Disney! Mr. Musk needs to get ahead of that, start doing tours, and "Ride the Dragon!" Hell, it'll defray some of the costs of "refurbishing" the boosters....

Man, I see so much cool ass shit every day and I feel like I live in the future. This is the icing on the cake. These suits look like they're straight out of the movie Interstellar. I wonder what things will look like when I'm 80 in 2081. If the world isn't destroyed by then.

I saw them talking about the suits during pre launch yesterday. The old suits are space suits, meaning they can go outside the craft or survive in a vacuum. The new suits, while still being completely sealed, are dolled up pressure suits to help survive the extra G force, they also have a cooling system built in. Pretty cool!
