Just out of curiosity - Airplane Guys

The RR powered 757 is a real seat of the pants rocket!
Those RB-211's were lovely engines. We did a double engine change on an AmWest (I think?) 757. Test flight was the 2 pilots, me, another mech and about 15K of Jet-1A. Never seen 10,000ft that fast on an airliner before. Felt like we could have coasted to the Moon;)

Here's one you don't see everyday. Just seen a DC-8 shootin' approaches into Downtown Airport (MKC). I'm guessin' it's been years since I saw a 4 engined
anything heading down there.

All of the survivors must be freighters by now. What airline was she with, Jim?

Plain white. No colors I could see. Black N number but was too far away to read. If I had to guess... FAA (or contractor) doing ILS approach verification duty. It shot 3-4 approaches to rwy 19.... which is the ILS.

I was in Puerto Allegre, Brasil maybe 9 or 10 years ago. They were pretty busy cutting up DC-8s for scrap. In the mid 1980s, Delta Air Lines was very busy upgrading DC-8s for everyone. I understand UPS still have theirs on standby in the desert.
A rare sight to see flying!

I saw this 747 in Baghram in 2006, I thought it looked cool.

But airplanes that beat the air into submission are more my style. That me on a string in the days of my youth.

And even younger days, me with the bunny hat and bandolier.

And me on the far right; as far as I know, the Navy does not have black helicopters. Nothing to see here folks, move along to the next post...

These were my favorite airplanes because it was my job for many years to keep them moving. I'm also fully aware of what their current dispatch reliability is. That, and I just like them. The RR powered 757 is a real seat of the pants rocket!

....when you really want to get going, you can't beat a 'Roller....
