What have you done to your XS today?

Time for a little more Main Jet.
And also time to fix a plug wire. Boo...

I rode my 72 up to the Iron Horse with a friend. I guess the few that were there were out riding. Saw a 73 and 78 I think. I did the the Oakie Dokies BBQ truck, but didn't see Steve. My friend was never there so we went to Deals Gap and as I went to park near the gas pumps, I stopped and fell over on my right side with my foot under the clutch case. All was ok as 3 or 4 big guys pulled me and the bike up in seconds. Boy did I feel stupid. Limped around for a while then did the Dragon, out and back. Ate lunch and drove home via rt.28. Had my foot x-rayed today. It's broken.

Oh man! I’m sorry to hear about that, I hope your foot heals fast.

Keith, nice move protecting that fine motorcycle! I hope your body saved it from any harm. Your old bones will heal up, but XS-2 parts are getting hard to come by.
Get well soon, my friend!

A couple XS650s managed to get photographed at VYR. The only coverage is at XS11.club.

With the exception of this year, I travel each year to Deals Gap to drive the Tail of the Dragon with one of my car clubs. I’d be interested in coming down next year if the VYR is an annual event. Would need to trailer the bike down though. These old bones wouldn’t appreciate the 15+ hour tide from Canada!

Did some stuff I'd been meaning to do. Swapped the slides that had the JBM diagrams in. Upped the needle to as the plugs have been too white. Swapped in the OG sized pilot jets. The 45's made the transition , idle to mids, rough. The chain was dry so cleaned and lubed it.

It has been annual since 2002. It has a FB site as well.

Hi 'Guy,
us sidecar riders have disqualified ourselves from competing for the kickstand award.
Is there a similar award for failing to leave one's rig in gear or set it's parking brake so it rolls away downhill faster than one can run after it?

The Kickstand Award goes to the last person to drop their bike or have a similar mishap at VYR. The honoree wears it until another mishap. Serious accidents or real traffic accidents are excluded. It is not awarded posthumously. I understand there may have been fatalities among the IH guests last weekend (NOT VYR participants) Kickstand award generally goes to parking lot dropsies.

Hi marty,
although I can proudly match any other rider's ineptitude, I'd have to be attending VYR to qualify for the award, eh?

Yes. The award is placed over your head in front of a crowd as if you are receiving The Medal of Honor. And then, you must return the following year, in hopes of passing it to the next clumsy vintage Yamaha fan. If you're part of the group, dropping your Harley-Davidson qualifies.
