So bought this stuff and will see if i can build a battery out of it!

Weight and size and power? gonna be a remodel project to go with, either Madness or Ywain is going to take advantage of the space saving. I put a factory built LI in the EBR and was quite impressed with how much performance comes out of a small light package. I used that one for a year with months between starts or charges with no issues.

I wish advance didn’t stop selling their lithium motorcycle battery I have on my bike. It’s been over a year and still sits at 14.6 volts full charge even after sitting days. It would suck if it caught on fire though because it’s under my nuts.

How do the LI batteries hold up to vibration? I just had a battery get rattled to death. Looking for a decent replacement now.

Sorry Chris, but this is a forum about Yamaha XS650s and so there is no vibration of which any of us are aware.

Depends on the application. There’s a reason Antigravity packs theirs with a lot of foam. Very sensitive to vibration. My point, if a person needs to wrap the battery with foam for vibration, defeats the purpose of small/compact. You guys are smart, so y’all realize how sensitive lithium batteries are to overcharging. Get that “shunt” reg/rectifier. I’ve mentioned this in other posts as well. Just a few learning curbs I’ve had. I’ve had the best luck and long term usage out of sla batteries. They’re cheap too. Any size you want just how many amp hours you want. I forgot to mention “kick start only”. Obviously these starters need a lot of amps to turn over. I have a lithium jump pack I paid $100 for. I use this to start my mower as well. Thing is, better start in a handful of turnovers or my pack dies. Has anyone tried a cordless drill lithium battery? I don’t have one handy to see the amperage. We did play with a 18v cordless drill battery on a 12v kids power wheel recently. This would pop wheelies! Haha motor kept over heating. Haha! Just make jumpers. There’s a small + and - where the contacts are.

Can't keep my grubby little fingers off, wanted to try it so fitted into available space, quick and dirty. A dedicated tray for the 4 in a row config would be a nice space savings.

Did not bench charge, just tossed them in. Three cells measured 3.26 volts one 3.25 close enough for hand grenades.:yikes: After yesterday's ride madness was on the edge of having to go on reserve, so the battery got a workout bringing her to life. It cranked it well, after a couple tries got a little slow here n there, she is a high compression 750, but kept going. Will try to get 'r out on the road for a while later this afternoon. Think I have a remote reading thermometer I can tape to the bars, so I see any thermal anomalies. Madness has 2 voltmeters so that's covered. No BMS, still thinking on that, basically the XS cannot over charge or discharge beyond the cells capabilities. :cautious:
