Things were going so good,

I took off this morning didn’t really have a plan, I just felt like riding. I headed South through the desert, and crossed into farmland, just enjoying little two lane roads with no traffic. Then I saw a sign that said Palo Verde Rd. I knew that turning on to that road would take me to the lsleepy little town of Palo Verde Az, so that’s where I went.
Palo Verde is nothing more than a few farmhouses and a school, I blew right through it. Next stop the town of Arlington , if you can call this a town.

The post office is about to be swallowed up by these old salt cedar trees. I’m right on the corner of Nowhere and Vine. :laugh2:

This two lane road I’m riding on, the Old Highway 80, used to be a main highway before it was replaced with a super slab. The new highway is packed with semi trucks and travelers. The Old Highway hardly has a car on it and it meanders nicely.

While I was stopped here, I pulled out my phone to check some distances. The town of Gila Bend is 35 miles further, I decide to continue on. About 5 miles down the road, I was riding at 55 mph and it felt like a rock hit my throat , about two seconds later, an intense burning. I knew immediately what happened. I pulled over in front of an old building and quickly pulled off my helmet and gloves. I looked in the mirror and I could see the bee stinger stuck in my Adam’s apple. I pulled out a credit card and scraped it off.

Well that ended my day, I was 50 miles from home and I turned around. Before I even made it home my throat was starting to tighten up. So ended my big adventure! :( ( At least I got a hundred miles in! )

Can’t remember if I posted this. Bit it’s a warning not to ride with your visor up. The throat area is quite a sensitive place to get stung.

It dropped a cylinder, :( just barely got 'r home. She's now on the lift for the winter R&R.
Gorgeous bike! Nice pic too. We’re heading up north this week to close up our cottage for the season and hope too see some nice fall colours. Too bad the bike bummed out.

I’ve had my eye on buying a Commando. Bad idea???

Just gotta know what you are getting into. Values are sky high...
Wasn't what I thought, apparently a carb is plugged, not a shock, tank was rusty before electrolysis, will have to investigate further.

Went for a ride today. Was thinking of going to Sonoita, but on the way to the house, I saw a blimp! And from the direction she was headed I knew it was on the was to Marana Regional Airport or Phoenix area. Off I went to Marana airport. Sure enough, there she was with her many support trucks of helium and portable mooring mast and other gear. 3 or 4 semi trucks were nearby. It was a Goodyear blimp. Bigger than the ones of the 60's and 70's that I had seen. 3 propellers too. 2 in the forward area and one sticking out the tail. None very big. I'll try to post pics from the phone.
  • On the way home, l happened to have to stop at one of the base gates. A semi pulling a low trailer with a complete Huey chopper minus rotor blades on it. So cool!

Side note. The BMr didn't break a sweat. 250+ smiles. I did, I over dressed. Day was much nicer than I expected.
Followed Madness for 20 or so smiles. Was glad Madness took it easy on her!

Oh ouch! :yikes:
Is that from an insect sting, or an impact of some kind?
The insect was a wasp. Second time this year, got stung in about the same place, corner of my eye, in Spain in January. The reaction was quite bad then also. Good news is I’m a little less ugly now I’m back to normal.

On my last ride I had my faceshield down when a big bee committed suicide right between my eyes...Almost every ride theres a big insect that goes splat on my faceshield...Looking forward to NO bugs winter riding...
