Another fine mess Ollie!

Stock paint, really?
Apparently so....

It'd be a short thread Mailman
Hooked up battery, it blew main fuse immediately, without even turning on the switch.
starting tracing to find a hot that was grounded.
found it here.

hmm something not quite right.
I wonder???

AHA! Brrm brrm and charging. :smoke:
Wow I am SO smart.:laughing:
Pipes are painful loud, but I just happen to have a set of stock Shadow pipes in the shed...Have to see if they'll fit this year./version
Needs about two days of "mailman" attention to look fine again.
There will be some more electrical sorting but I think that was the deal, someone replaced the voltage regulator with an aftermarket, plugged wires in backwards..
How do I do it??

So some Honda engineer decided it was OK to use 2 identical connectors on one system, wired side by side? He needs to be drug out back and flogged.

yeah wuz think'n the same...
Honestly was kinda shocked when they just swapped.
Someone was colorblind?
Some connectors may have been changed?
The stock Honda connectors were color coded, the aftermarket voltage regulator not so much.
po had a 50% chance of getting it right, abetted by the ole red wire to red, green wires to green wires theory.
The good news (for me) is that little error snagged me a nice bike, cheap....

Thanks Paul :)
He mostly gets it right, but guy's a jabbering maroon! He mentions power but the selling point of the 1100 Shadow motor is low RPM torque, they are fine with lug N chug style riding.

The "Hotrod" Sabre final drive is geared shorter than the other Shadows for more round town gitty up.
Will be interesting to freeway it, cuz one thing I've always liked 'bout Shadows is a steep overdrive 5th for low RPM cruising.
Bike is farkled up the wazoo
Floor boards, highway pegs, crash bar, bat wing fairing (has a scrape mark) with what looks like a quality Teac stereo head, Remember Teac tape recorders? big speakers. Mustang seat with rider backrest, a fancy throttle lock aftermarket grips, leatherlyke quick remove hard bags, leather tank bra, driving lights with visors, those "neighbor hater" pipes. But no passenger backrest, luggage rack (I ride alone)
Confession; I may have smoked the voltage regulator last night, :shootme: least I hope it's the VR not the stator:yikes:. It's PMA so prolly can find a VR that will do the job out in the bins.
Correct battery was at least starting to take a charge last night, more breathless updates later, :lmao:
Guess I should go resurrect a membership in a Shadow forum. :wink2:

$1200 and 140 miles round trip in the van, think I'll be OK
I did smoke the regulator, found one that rectified but did not regulate so the stator is good, ordered a "correct" chincon VR. about $25 I think the battery is going to be OK, took a day+ but now shows 100% charged and cranks it over good. Starts, runs good, no smoke will disconnect the regulator and take it out for a short ride today. brand new ( and recent manufacture) dunlop elite 4 tires. :bike: been polishing, needs several more hours of that. Repairing blending in a scraped area on the fairing, still need to see if that stock Aero exhaust will fit. If I'm going to ride it, those neighbor haters gotta go!

Not a lot?
8 plate clutch.
welded crankshaft
the hoos front guide
new cam chain the usual seals gaskets etc.
I had wanted to put in a MikesXS overdrive 5th gear but the one I had didn't fit the tranny in this motor.
It may get that set of pumper carbs from the Grizzly bear.
Got distracted went and looked at a micro CNC mill but it was tinkertoy enough that I dug in on a low price and got turned down.
Don't think it was much of a loss, had a nice fall car ride out of it. Went by this in Delavan WI

Adams family, springs to mind.

Spent 6 hours in the Prius last night but came home with a complete stock exhaust, in as new condition, 300 miles on the bike when removed. Even included the stock carb jets, every nut bolt and bracket. Sounds much better now, sshhhh! Will take it 'round the block, pull a plug, before I go in for the jets, carbs aren't much fun on these.
