A lithium battery DIY experiment.

Will be interesting to see how the charge management system works out. I assume it has dedicated charging and voltage monitoring to each cell independent of the others. This way you cannot over or under charge any individual cell.

Just thought I'd drop something in here that may be of interest to someone: A friend of mine builds Li battery packs for bicycles. He said for long term storage the batteries should not be fully charged. There is a specific voltage range the batteries should be parked at. This may be something to consider when putting motorcycles into Winter hibernation. I hope to see him next week and will check what the voltage should be.

Edit: A storage voltage of 3.7V per cell gives good longevity for most Li systems. See the following: https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_store_batteries

Gary this is great... I've been busy and not in the forum but the weather is bringing me back.... I almost purchase a LI batery for a bike off eBay... The guy makes his own like you are..except uses LARGE shrink wrap withe the glue in it and shrink wraps the battery's together in a bundle...it also seals all the connections off from mousture... And he was selling them for 100 dollars..I see if he is still there and send a link... I missed u guys

Got the replacement cell and wired in the battery management system.

Put this LED spot light on as a load test it's drawing .82 amps, forgot and went for a hike, came back 2 hours later, battery still above 13 volts. um ignore that toasty looking black wire (oops) need to solder some leads on to the BMS board and install it in Madness, see how everything goes. I'm going to wire the starter motor direct to bypass the BMS, everything else will go through it.

I searched ebay and I do no longer see the guy that was making his shrink wraped version of these batterys, I would be very interested G.gggary if you could send me all the pieces to build my own, or the links to purchase all the parts, and if they work out as good as I asume they would be, there again is the posibility in buying the seperate cells in bulk, so we can all have one,,,
