shipping rant

So you agree this looks suspicious?

I think it’s quite possible the driver stole the shipment. That very scenario has happened before. Their scanners have GPS trackers in them , and everything is recorded. How fast they drive, where they stop and for how long.
What is strange though is most delivery services now photograph their delivery when they drop it. It’s good you reported it.

And now, some of the FedEx Express packages have Senseaware. The package itself has a tracking device.

I have always instructed shippers to have the package put behind a brick column on our porch but they consistently leave it leaning against the front door - in full view of the street.

I happened to be near the door when a guy walked up to make delivery and I opened it as he was walking away. I called out and in a pleasant voice said: "Would you please leave the parcels HERE (pointing to the desired spot)." But he just gave me a stupid sh!teating grin and shrugged.

I guess its the times....

You guys are making me nervous. I've got a package coming UPS today. Say's it is out for delivery.
I'm sure it is. No worries.

I've got a broken washing machine. I bought parts on eBay. USPS tracking says they have not received the package a week later. I contact seller and tell him just keep it and buy again from another vendor. Now, I get local tracking info after receiving a refund. Part is on the way twice! Tracking SNAFU's can really mess things up!

All seriousness aside, my wife and I went out this morning at about 11:00 AM and drove to the next little town to walk in their park along the Detroit River and then we bought sub sandwiches and ate them in the car - and came home. Coming back down our street we noted about 3-4 vans (a FEDEX, a UPS, a Canada Post and a U-Haul rental van) sprinkled along the street delivering parcels.

I remarked that it is sort of amazing how much stuff is being shipped hither and yon by all sorts of different organizations and nearly all of it arrives at its destination in good order - and she agreed (that's about the first thing we've agree on in the last week or so....).

FedEx hub in Memphis handled an absurd number of packages on Dec 23. I think the number was 5.71 million, but please don't quote that. Whatever the number, it excluded the overnight letters. Generally, we only talk about the screw-ups.

On Tue Jan 5th I ordered 3 sets of 2 into 1 exhaust headers from Dennis Kirk. They arrived on The morning of Thur Jan 7th. Upon my inspection all 3 boxes had been opened and resealed with tape. (staples removed) All the pipes and cone mufflers were still sealed in the original factory wrappings and in excellent cond, however the hdw package in all 3 sets had been opened and and were missing all the 1/2 clamps and 1 set was missing the flanges as well. I called customer services and got the return instructions and sent them back the same day. On Mon Jan 11 they had arrived back to Dennis Kirk. At 1:05 PM I got a email saying the return was completed and at 3:45 the same day the full refund (no restock fee`s, shipping fee or charges of any kind) was made to my credit card. This experience could have been much worse. My guess is the parts were robbed in the warehouse to replace other sets that were sold with missing parts also. If they had been complete $150.60 a set with free shipping would have been a great deal. I wasn`t overly pissed as usual but I sure was disappointed.
At least UPS came through both coming and going.

Will Dennis Kirk not re-ship complete sets to you?

The headers were close out items. Customer service tried to get parts needed to complete them but the company (MAC) could not supply them anymore. Denis Kirk had 7 sets when I ordered mine and 3 sets in stock on the 11th. I didn`t want to take a chance on the remaining sets. Once bitten twice shy I guess.:shootme: I always had good luck with Dennis Kirk and will continue to buy from them.

Not a bad idea. The 1/2 clamps could be easily made on your lathe and flanges aren`t that hard either. $50.00 a set?:yikes:

Simlar ranty feeling here - after Brexit happened, any parcel from the UK to Ireland became liable to Customs inspection and duty payable.
Two items I'd purchased, and had been shipped, before the deadline of midnight the 31st December finally arrived in Dublin and I was informed the Revenue were about to sting me for quite a few quid.
This got up my nose, so fired off a firm email to the relevant desk and got a nice result - no duties payable, parcels to be with me in a couple of days.
I suspect a million more parcels than normal for the end week of December were working their way through the Dublin hub, in light of the deadline.

My regular parcel drivers and the mailman leave my parcels inside the basement door which is always left unlocked. FedX drivers are so random it doesn't work with them. Got a set of end mills from harbor freight today in a nice little wooden index box 'cept the wooden box end was busted and missing and the 4 color display box was also torn even though it was all packed and padded inside an undamaged shipping box.
HF motto we tear off the QC label before we ship, guaranteed.

UPS finally got here. Box a little beat up. Find out in a min how it is on the inside.
