Get that channel on now!

Stay tuned for next weekend's NASCAR race; it will be on the Daytona infield/oval course, "The Roval".

And on March 28th, they will be at Bristol, where they have covered the track with dirt !! This oughta be interesting.

And then in May at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin TX for the first time !

And then in Sonoma in June for the first time !

I'm back to watching NASCAR after 10 years off.

And next year should be even more interesting: the cars will no longer have a frame; they will be built on a carbon fiber monocoque tub. And the wheels will be BBS aluminum made in Germany, with only one nut in the center, like Indycars.
The transmissions will now be manual sequential units like our XS650's
Rear axles eliminated, replaced by independent rear suspension.

The new 2022 cars will essentially be sportscars.

Not stock cars anymore

I think it was the 1950's when NASCAR stopped using stock cars, largely because they thought the public wanted to see faster race cars at the larger tracks.
Since then it has been a gradual move towards the sportscar, with tubular frames in the 70's, and fuel injection in 2012 and so on.

Occasionally I go see a local race at a tiny 1/4 mile dirt track because they will have a real stock car class called "Strictly Stock".

The NASCAR Dirt Race at Bristol seems to be an attempt at A Look Back at the "good old days".

I'm not sure that Michael Jordan and Bubba Wallace want to see that happen.

I'd rather watch Australian V8 Supercars race, haven't watched nascar since the mid 80's
The France family F'd everything up and has made them a formula car event since the 90's

I've enjoyed watching the V8 Supercars too.
However, the construction/spec formulas they abide by don't look much different than NASCAR.

New Hybrid race car for NASCAR. Doesn`t really matter because IMHO NASCAR Stinks Out loud and is no longer a "Stock Car" race, just another TV show. The real race is between the NASCAR and NHRA to see which one hit`s rock bottom first.

Can`t ya just hear those electric motors "Thundering" down the front straight.:wtf:

No need to get all hysterical.

The electric motors will simply provide a boost to the brakes.
The engine remains the same. It will sound the same coming down the track.

Think of it like when CD players replaced cassette decks in our cars; it was hard for some of us to make the change,
but we eventually got accustomed to it. ;)

Will that be possible at all

I don't know much about cars and not about stock cars
But I believed it was 750 hp and up ... rear wheel drive unknown traction control.
If one touch the gas pedal ..something will spin out and perhaps go straight forward at the first turn
With the crowded starts and moments seen in Daytona 500 now and then .. Massive pile ups.
I wonder if anyone at all will cross the finishing line.
if you put a modern sports bike for tarmac on gravel with street tires
I am not sure everyone could do it. getting very far
Need to be extremely careful with steering and throttle or you end horizontal.
But perhaps this is better drivers than i am aware off.
In rally cars on gravel roads there are a lot going on behind the wheel

Speaking of High tech Car " Old School " Audio equipment ---The singles record player.
Those was sought after for vintage USA cars . Already many years ago mid 70 ies . Don t know now.
Not the best reputation ... high needle pressure . But in the days with not that much on the radio
I suppose it was used ---about 1962

I think that a large percentage of NASCAR fans can't tell you what (the acronym) N. A. S. C. A. R. stands for.
Much of autosport caters to the terminally dyslexic. "Racecar" spelled backwards is still racecar.

National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.
Used to watch a lot, lately not so much now. Cars too much like IROC. It's only close racing because of the rules. Cars are all the same frames. Only real difference is the engine. Rules keep them to the same horsepower. Didn't like it when they went to fuel injection. I liked when if a team or brand wasn't competitive they figured out how to be. Now the rules make it so. A good driver is still a good driver. I used to help guys run round-a-rounds on dirt. Was a lot of fun. It's very hard to beat cubic dollars.

I was on a circle track race car pit crew, too, in the late 70's.
VW chassis, tubular cage, VW and Porsche engines, "Mini Modified" class.
We sometimes changed engines between heats (4 bolts, 2 wires and a fuel line)
Dirt tracks all around Central New York.
Here we were at "Five Mile Point Raceway" 1979

Good times gone past.
Mentioned to a friend of mine about "screwing yourself into the ground" watching the races from the infield. He didn't understand till he went to a race with me. Went to a hundred or so races, never watched from the stands, at one track used to watch from the top of the wall between turns 3 and 4. Good times!!
