Hi, I recently bought a 1983 XS650 and the previous owner cut half of them of so Im looking for new ones. No need to be OEM, just something that will fit well and not look out of place. Something that will work well with stock carbs and air filters.Any ideas? Im familiar with mikeXS and I saw a couple of them there, just looking for more insight. Thanks!

I've run Dunstall repro 27" muffs adapted to the stock headers that were cut behind the header mounting tab right at the muffler on me old '83 with the bs34 carbs........currently running single wall aftermarket headers with Commando 27" muffs and minor carb changes on me '77 with a set of '78 bs38 carbs.
Welcome aboard!

And where do I get them?

Don't buy exhaust stuff from MikesXS. They have higher prices than other places, won't give free shipping on exhausts, and their so-called Commando mufflers are not, they're junky EMGO imitations. This is about the best place at the moment for exhausts - cheaper prices, free shipping, and real original type Commando mufflers .....

Their replacement headpipes are also better priced than elsewhere. I'd go with the whole system, new mufflers and new headpipes. Get the 1.5" inlet mufflers so you don't need to use reducer sleeves when mounting them.

Why should I use new headpipe? Would I be ok with my old headpipes? And will the 1.5'' fit on my current headpipes?

1.5" inlet mufflers will fit your old headpipes but you want to use an adapter. See post #19 here .....

The original headpipes are double walled, a pipe within a pipe. This was done to stop them from turning blue but the I.D. is quite a bit smaller because of it. You'll get better flow and performance from an aftermarket single walled headpipe. That's the main reason for changing.

Small problem here, Im in canada and xs650.com doesn't ship there. Is there a good option on mikexs for a standard replacement muffler?

I don't feel there is. The "Commando" they sell now is but a shadow of it's former self, lol.

Since what they sell now is actually an EMGO muffler, I think you can find it cheaper on Amazon.
