Kick Only TCI ignition. Lots of kickback when kicking.

"Better" all depends on your perspective.
Boyer, and Vape offer 2 very different plug and play options. Pazon and Ignitech have systems that can be adapted.
Yeah I wanted to keep it all stock , but if there is a modern improvement and I do need to replace it I'd like to know the options , I've been working , but this week I'll get out in the garage and test all these things hopefully I don't need to switch my TCI unit.

Why do you say the TCI unit is better than the boyer or Vape?

Stock TCI ignition has the pickup triggered off the crank/alternator so the timing is not affected by cam chain stretch. Once set it is set for life. The Boyer pickup runs of the cam so will be influenced by chain stretch and may need minor adjustment as the chain stretches. As to which is better is down to one's perspective based on what they do with the bike. I prefer Boyer because it represents a modern upgrade to the electronics, but I would be perfectly happy with a points system also.

Do a forum search on "Carmo"...

I checked the battery it was at 13.35 v. The grounds were all solid.
So I took the side cover off to see if I noticed anything unscrewed the pick up and noticed the top screw was a little loose. I hit the back of the pickup up with a fine sand paper

Same to the stator face (slip plate ?)

Buttoned it all back up and it wouldn't start, but wasn't kicking back.

I had the fuel mix screw out to about 2 1/4 turns. I screwed it in to 1 turn out and I actually got it to start and it idled and died.

I put my uni pod filters back on , and got it to start again was idling for maybe a minute, I was abled to rev it up a couple times and it died a few seconds later.

I repeated that once more. Started , let it idle, revved it up, and it died a few seconds later.

So I searched those symptoms and found an older post where YOU (toomanyxs1bs) told someone that the magnet in the stator can become weak over time. I have to wonder if that could be the situation I'm faced with.

Here's a video of it running poorly. I think it's only running on 1 cylinder.

Here's some images of the alternator although I can't see anything out of the ordinary. And unfortunately I don't have a rotor puller for this bike.

Yes it sounds as running on one Cylinder
I would check if any spark on both sides .
I do that via taking out Plugs holding them against the engine and kick
Please do the read up on how this is done . Loosing ground can destroy electronics

Don't get into doing everything at once, little steps or you won't know what helped or what f'd up.
While your charging rotor is out, probe it with an ohm meter. Copper slip ring to copper slip ring should read 5 +/- ohms. Post what you find there.

When you start it up and it runs like in the video, figure out which side is firing and which ain't. I'll hit the headers with the back of me fingers to tell which is which. Get that sorted - most likely carb issue. Get her running and charging and then set the valves.

I'll add your lady friend is right, "That don't sound right." Check the carb on the side not firing.
