looking great there Randy! I love the whole handlebar, mirrors, windshield package you’re running, and the small tail light looks right too.

Machine, that tank paint work looks very nice and so is the rest of the bike...:hump:
Thank you, no credit for the original paint, scratch aged 78E tank, just the side covers and emblems to match that :)
There is a plan to have push on attachment points. See how this size surgical tubing pushes over the Screw head? Stuck figuring how to glue the surgical tubing to the plastic side cover..

The nice replies are appreciated. This XS is at least one year over due but wow, Lucky!
Morning check over reveals no leaks. :umm:That's amazing! The front calipers were cleaned and "rebuilt" lol years ago in Sandy Oregon for the 78E and haven't had fluid in them for 3 years. Was really expecting a caliper piston leak. :wink2:
The front end handlebars and controls are very solid! I can Ride !

Nice looking motorcycles gents. Can see where you're spending your time. Randy, she might be overdue but she's certainly bringing a smile to your face now. Well done! Rusty, I like the shot in front of the Tardis. Im not as industrial as Bob! Enjoy your riding season mates, care and safety!!

Time for the annual pain-in-the-*** state inspection.
My favorite inspection station.

The mechs at the station were all gaga over my vintage XS1B. (This is what happens when you hang onto stuff) They did the inspection for free...!

Ridin' around, checking on the flora and fauna. Looks like the oak trees in Fredericksburg are recovering from February's ice storm, fresh green leaves starting to sprout.

Not so much in *my* part of the county. A few of my Live Oaks are trying to recover, a hint of new leaf sprouts.

No hope for these...

Nice photos buddy, I didn’t realize Texas had mandatory inspections for vintage motorcycles. That would be a pain for sure. Arizona used to require all motorcycles to pass emissions every year, but a few years ago they dropped that requirement for all motorcycles. Never have had safety inspections.

In the UK there is the annual inspection (MOT) but no emissions testing for bikes. The testing stops when the bike/vehicle reaches 40 Years of age but the responsibility to keep it in road worthy condition lies with the owner.

I once had a gig moonlighting as an auto mechanic. In Georgia, there are no safety inspections. The stuff people will get out on the road with is truly frightening.
Kansas is still the wild west when it comes to Vehicle laws, pretty much anything goes. There are LOADS of questionable vehicles on the road here. Our state law makers are far to worried about outlawing the teaching of evolution to worry about silly things like road safety.

I got out today , just tootling around. I took a ride out past Luke Air Force base and didn’t see any jets in the air, I was on a small two lane road that runs through farm land that surrounds the base, right as I passed the end of the runway an F-35 was taking off, right over my head about 40 yards above me and hard on the gas. Startled the crap out of me! :laugh2: Even with ear plugs in under my full coverage helmet, that plane was Thunderous!!!
Mostly I just meandered down farm land roads and through some pretty neighborhoods nearby. Very pleasant out today.
