buildin' me a tracker

Really nice work! And so nice to see that having a passion for something keeps you young :). Cant even begin to explain how much I'd like to live in California...

Droppped the front 'bout an inch, can't tell so much in the pic but it sits better.

Wow, that is an excellent build. Makes me both excited and nervous for mine, that's a lot of work! Where did you score those hammarheads? Ebay doesn't turn up a damn thing.

Wow. This baby is beautiful. I hope that I am able to do one that turns out half as sweet. Is the back wheel one from an RD400? Is that the stock swingarm?

Back wheel is same as front both stock 79XS650, spacer kit to make it fit on the rear is from Omar's. Yes, swingarm is stock.

Happy Cinco De Mayo to me!! (with one exception). These guys did a great job 'cept when I got home one of the what I'm gonna call a valve cover was missing. It's the three holed job with the o-ring. They can't find it, I don't have it. They're willing to take care of it but I need another. Anybody got one?

The wheels look so nice! I'm a big fan of the mags on these bikes and I think I would have to say those are my favorite so far, they look like they're made of silver, precious metal like coins...

Got the EXCELLENT new/used clutch assy from hooktool. Thank you. this fucker is plug and play. I'm stoked. One more time.............thank you!

Clutch is in (thanks again John), alternator is in (although I'm still waiting for stator screws), valves are adjusted. putting the stator on I noticed one of the brush holders didn't look quite right. took the stator back off and put it on the bench. EVERY screw relating to the brush holder was REAL loose. Coulda gotten real ugly real fast. somebody's watchin' over me. So check EVERYTHING fellas, or prepare yourself for a surprise, and prolly not a good one. Waiting for oil pump screws (fucked up 2 of them taking them off-my fault-used the wrong bit on the impact driver, ended drilling one of them out), gotta get a chain then the side covers can go on (oooh, shiny).

You may have to re-think that 1" drop on the fork tubes. Upon full fork compression, the lowers may hit the lower tree. If I recall correctly, there's only about 3/4" of space when the forks compress fully, and that's with no dust cover. Pull the spring and slide the lower all the way up, you'll see what I mean. I usually do a 3/8" drop.
