Tim, I love that old Vetter windshield! Did you get that recently? It looks perfect, I like the wind protection it provides yet it’s clear and doesn’t take away from your bikes lines. Do you like it?
@Mailman: I did just recently buy the Vetter windshield. It was NOS that I found locally from the 2nd owner who had purchased it for a Norton restore but in the end decided not to use it. He only wanted $80.00 for it and I thought that as very reasonable. I've reattached it a few times now trying to get the best fit so it doesn't rub paint or metal or vibrate, I think I finally have right. I guess only time will tell.
Two things I learned in this process are 1. 40 year old plastics for the attachment are brittle but fixable. 2. Even though it says Vetter I couldn't help but notice the similarity to the Slipstreamer Spirit and SS28 models so I researched and found this was introduced about a year after Vetter sold the company, so it's not really a Vetter.
I also cut 2" off the top because it was very tall and I had to sit up very straight to comfortably see over the top. All things considered I'm still very happy with the purchase because its still period correct and the costs couldn't be beat. I really appreciate your interest and want you to know I've enjoyed reading and keeping with your XS journey.
It may not show well in my images but I'm a polishaholic as well.
