    That diagram you need

There is a diagram on this site somewhere of a custom seat pan/battery box. Its on a white screen and all the dims for making it yourself. It folds up from a sheet of metal, it fits a small battery and everything you need. I thought I saved it in my favorites but I cant find it anywhere. Anyone...

    Carrrrrrbbb pop pop carrrrb pop.

After a good old ride around for the first time in 2 years of problems and pain, its great to get out an about on the bike! I did some playing around and found that the carbs would pop as soon as I took the choke off. When its on i can drive for hours with no problems. What would cause the...

    Carrrrrrbbb pop pop carrrrb pop.

I dropped the pilot jet down to the stock 27.5 and the bench synced the carbs. It was really handy blowing against the butterfly's to test pressure. Once that was done, no popping at all!

    Carrrrrrbbb pop pop carrrrb pop.

If the title didn't give much away, let me explain. 1978 xs650, with Hugh's hand built complete kit. Timing is pretty much on point but does kick back every now and then. My issue is my carbs pop every now and then and stall the engine. Then other times they just pop and I'm on my merry way...

Could a washer destroy a bike?

5Twins, you probably saved me a long write up because I believe you're correct. Deciding that I need new friction plates, I thought to "play" with my old ones. Firstly I sanded the friction plate faces with 400grit. I then got the bench grinder on ever flange of the friction plates, ever so...

Could a washer destroy a bike?

Yes, that is a good idea. I will post all the information in a new thread tonight, with all the pictures and videos in a sequence that makes sense to everyone along with a nice write up. That way, a new person can come in and follow along and fix the problem when it arises. Because we are all...

Could a washer destroy a bike?

Yes, I found that out yesterday, going through all the thread that we are going in circles a bit but we still haven't gotten a conclusion of why this happening? Today is a day of spending, new clutch plates. However, the plates have plenty left on them, so what is causing them to stick...

Could a washer destroy a bike?

Hey Peanut, Thanks for the breakdown, sorry for the mix up but yes if I push the bike in first with the clutch pulled in then the engine still turns over. When I start the engine, I can pull the clutch in and use it as normal, however its clunks while taking off in first. 1. 1978, import from...

Could a washer destroy a bike?

OK, here is my clutch, its open! I do pull the clutch in and there isnt much movement in the plates, as you will see. So I thought maybe I have too many plate in the stack (I have seen another video of this been the case), well that wasnt the case, with one friction and one steel plate removed...

Could a washer destroy a bike?

Paul Sutton mentioned testing, so I have tried what he said. I took the sparks out, tried to kick in gear and it pushes the bike forward (as expected). Then I put it in gear and held the clutch and it was no different, the clutch isn't disengaging. I then took the worm gear screw off and that...

Could a washer destroy a bike?

So in the previous installments I took apart and re greased the worm gear and all is well in there, no cracks etc. I am terrible at video and explaining what I mean haha, I will harder try next time. I loosen the nut, screw in, 1/6 counter clockwise, then lock the nut. I took apart the clutch...

    Hughs handbuilt wiring dilemma!

Yeah, sorry, that diagram is rubbish, but i do want to make the one that is in post #9. A bit of an update, there is a relay that comes with the system and I unplugged the sucker and I was able to get spark, then I took the battery lead off and I was able to start kick only too. So its a bit of...

    Hughs handbuilt wiring dilemma!

So I have gone with attempting to wire up Hugh's complete kit stand alone to try and get a spark, (see in video) rather than installing all the wiring to find Hugh's doesn't work. . I have based how I wired it off of this picture below, just without indicators and such, I'll edit the pic to show...
