Sounds like worn out alternator brushes too me! Check and replace before your 1000 miles from home with no spare parts and your only hope is cleaning the contacts surface with an eraser.
I am pretty excited to follow this thread. Your seat is on the top of my want list. Looks like a great product. The only seat that is custom and as close to bolt on and go as a custom seat gets. Looking forward to seeing the fender mads to get the seat flat.
Nice bike! I think a small bates style headlight would look good. Your bike really makes me think of left cycles builds. And that is a good thing. Clean and simple are the hardest things to achieve.
