    Help-1980 XS850 Frame Label

Looking forward to finally getting it on the road. Been restoring it for almost a year. Took my time a little bit every day. Now if I could just get the label sorted out??? Here are some of my other restorations since I was last here. Not XS related but had (and having) a blast giving a new...

    Help-1980 XS850 Frame Label

All, Been a while since I last posted here. Sold the 650 a couple of years back and moved on to restoring 6 or 7 more bikes. Had to rent a storage locker to keep them all. Since last, have also built a vapor blaster and a powder coating oven so no more out sourcing for the work. Enjoying...

    Anyone know what these are?

Contact burnishers, and old wooden ones at that. As Paul said, make great nail files.

I am sorry. My bad. I thought you were referencing the ACF 50. Carry on. Nothing to see.

I would use that “dry” term very loosely. It is not that dry. It will leave a film at least in my experience. Like is said, I use it as a lubricant for my cables. I would experiment with it first before you coat bare aluminum. You may not like the end result. Basically a better version of...

ACF 50 is a good product. Corrosion inhibiter and lubricant. I use it for lubing cables and any steel bolt heads to stop corrosion. Never used it on aluminum. For the aluminum cases, you could spray them with ACF-50 but will be oily and I suspect would stain the aluminum when it gets hot...

    Vapor Blasting Prices

All depends on the media. If you were soda blasting then most likely no harm but high abrasives like sand, glass or metal oxides would not be good in the engine as bearing surfaces would score. Other issue is plugged up galleries. That is nothing that a good wash and blowing out with compressed...

    Vapor Blasting Prices

That is a hell of deal. Must be a one man operation with no overhead. I suspect that is at least 2 to 3 hours of work even with an industrial machine.

    Vapor Blasting Prices

Yes. Did it as I was assembling the cabinet so was between all joints and every bolt hole. Went through 3 tubes of Type II 100% silicone by the end of it. Bitch to work with as it does not react like normal caulking but nothing seals better. Learned to wait until it was dried and then trimmed...

@JRay77 Pulled the pump out to clean out the system. Here is the circulation setup for the basin. Added one more outlet since there was a dead spot with three. Basically one in each quadrant with a couple in the opposite direction to form a turbulent agitation.

Good luck with the build. Sounds like you have some interesting times ahead. Make sure you start a separate build thread to keep the curious folks entertained during this lockdown (Ontario folks). Attached my build thread below if interested. Also, if you are looking at getting any parts...
