Rear axle help, drum won't rotate, chain slap also

So the brake backing plate that holds the shoes is anchored to the frame. The drum, wheel hub and tire should spin freely. Is your brake actuator arm to tight the linkage that goes to the pedal? Reassemble leave the axle loose and the actuator arm off. With the bike jacked up you should be able...

Lookin good. Im sure the machine shop will be able to tell you if that wear spot is normal or if it needs replacing or anything. I'd replace all of the chain guide components while you're in their.

    Mid controls

Thats a bummer. Theirs quite a few other companies that mount of the factory exhaust mounts. Those are pretty common options too. A quick google you could probably find some. I can't remember off the top of my head.

Hello everyone.. my question is, Does any body know a way to use a Harley wheel on a XS650 ?

Yeah that would work. Length is all dependent on what kind of axle adjusters. I had tried a harley axle but it was too long for the style of adjusters I was using and didn't want to use any extra spacers. To each their own.

Hello everyone.. my question is, Does any body know a way to use a Harley wheel on a XS650 ?

It should fit right through. I used 3/4 lollipop adjusters. The 1mm difference between the axle and the axle plates shouldn't matter. Mine and many others has been fine.

Check out Jump Street Customs. He has a few options for XS650's. Shoot him a message or email and he can get you sorted. His stuff is made to order.

Hello everyone.. my question is, Does any body know a way to use a Harley wheel on a XS650 ?

I had my XS650 Axle turned to 3/4 inch and used a Fatboy rear wheel. Mr. Lucky's has the sprockets you need. After that its just spacing. I bought a 3/4 spacer kit from Low Brow. Has a variety of different thickness spacers. I picked the one I needed to get the chain straight on the left hand...

Ehhh for the permatex stuff its pretty lenient. I usually lightly slather it on the gasket by hand wait, 5 minutes or so till its just slightly tacky, install and snug that part up, wait a few minutes then final torque it. I believe its an anaerobic hylomar-esque sealer. The primary benefit...

That's a very creative setup! Love it. Super slick. Good alternative to the larger xs1 front drum. As for your engine stuff I like to use this stuff on almost all of the paper gaskets. Just an extra piece of mind for me. Head Gasket I like to use the copper spray stuff...

    ANOTHER oil thread

Yup after doing some reading it seems that adding a zinc additive to the royal purple 20w50 actually decreased its performance in some areas. I think I will stick with the Valvoline straight and no additives. Very interesting reads thanks for posting!

    ANOTHER oil thread

Okay, that makes more sense. I suppose when I say cheapo I use the valvoline 20w50 motorcycle oil, blue bottle stuff. (It's cheaper than royal purple or yamalube) wasn't sure if it was still a decent additive or not.

    ANOTHER oil thread

Is zinc additive good to use with the wet clutch? I have some Lucas TB Zinc Plus I've considered adding in with the standard cheapo 20w-50 stuff.

Very slick. I had some Tbars and they were just a bit too boring for me. What front wheel is that and +4 on the forks?

Not XS (BMW) an electrical troubleshooting thread

My uncle has a BMW and his also intermittently would not start or die. Needed a new ignition switch and key. Somedays it would start for him somedays it wouldn't! He must have 100k on it by now. I envy it, hardly ever has to do anything besides change the oil!
