    Other ignition options

Yes, I will. I'm replacing coils, plug wires, and plugs as well. I will install those first, and get a feel for how much better that is, and then install the transistor box and see how that goes.

My T-Shirt print from the past

I would say yes, it's difficult to find a shirt not covered in skulls or remarks about being lucky to be alive.

    Other ignition options

Hey Scott; I am planning on purchasing the Hondaman transistor setup. I like to support small motorcycle entrepreneurs whenever I can. I don't mind the points setup anyway, and I like the idea of being able to switch back to the points on the road if I need to appealing. I would have purchased...

Could you help ID this fork

Hi Freerider, welcome to the forum. Yes, it's definitely xs650. I have a 78, and there are some subtle differences between my forks and your picture. The dimensions are the same, but the caliper attachment looks a little different, and my fork has a small groove machined in at the 14 15/16"...

BRASS and COPPER WASHERS on the CYLINDER HEAD

I did a retorque this last weekend, and used 8 of the brass washers from Mikes. As Iamcarbon has already stated the four outside washers need to be sealed because of oil passages, but I used them on the inside four as well, because I like symmetry, and I read somewhere the brass will hold the...

    Top Speed?

The speedometer on my bike only goes to 120. So, Retiredgentleman, if I get one like yours, I should be able to take it to 140. That's some cheap horsepower there. Sorry for getting off topic Dozerdan, It's Friday, it's raining, and I have the day off.

    ATU springs not closing?

I also have a product called Boshield, which is a spray lubricant developed by Boeing .I use it in my woodshop for cast iron tabletops and saw blades, stuff like that. I use it on the center of the advance shaft and spray it around the springs and pivots of the advance unit. It's the best...

    ATU springs not closing?

You don't pull the bushings out, you just wipe in some moly grease in the two little grooves at each end where the shaft goes. I just finished this procedure, and as 5twins said, run the motor for a wile, and then recheck the weights. Philip

    Top Speed?

I think 75 mph is about 5000 rpm. I'm sure it goes faster than that, but I don't care to. At that speed it's kind of like holding onto the blades of a really large blender, which as we all know is one of its most endearing qualities. I think in the neighborhood of 120 is the actual top end.
