So it did eventually start leaking…replaced it with the aluminum one with o rings and it’s been good since.

Pulled thd wheel, everything looked good and I could hear the cable whirring when i spun the front tire as i reassembled but road test had the needle laying motionless. Will try to check it out again tomarra.

Red locktight, yes (that stuff is expensive). Some how in the process I have disabled the speedo. Another remove i guess!

Must be the camera angle. It does stick out a little and have the hole you mentioned.

Ok. I think I'm straight now. I see now that this clamp has more to do with keeping the fork in the right position than carrying the axle. THANKS everyone!

Took a while to get around to it but.... Borrowed a welder and welded the nut to the stud and it came right out. Couldnt find a new stud so got a bolt that was the right size and made my own. Thanks for the advice! M8 x 1.25 is the stud size and pitch. By the way, why does it have a gap...

Thanks for the wheel jray77. I cleaned it up, painted it flat black and mounted my tire on it today. Awesome! So much smoother ride than my other one.

All i know for sure is the bike is an '81 and wheel is 19" and has 36 spokes. Attached are pictures of the front and rear that i have.

I need a 19" spoked front wheel for an '81 xs650. Appearance is not an issue and i already have a tire and brake rotor. The one i have appears to have been curbed and the tire wont set on the bead. Not sure what years are interchangeable.

Impact wrench. Takes it right off.

Do you have: Fenders (front and rear)? 19" front wheel?
