Fred, thanks for the info. I just tried it. I tried all everything and then took the key switch off and tried to get the pin to extend, but it only moved out about 1/32," if that. The key moves, and is loose, but it may be that one of the tumblers is still "locked." The ignition ON/OFF...- dpar0511

Greetings. Just picked up an 81' XS6560SH. Date of build is 12/80. It has a numbered key that may or not be the original. When I push it down and try to turn it, the locking pin fails to extend, so I can not lock the forks. The key starts and stops the MC but it will not engage the steering...- dpar0511
