Took the left carb apart blew it out. Put it back on tweak the idle mixture and she is back running. No clue what was wrong.

Thanks for the help all. i will let you know what i find. i will bet th intake sleeve is letting air in. i will also check the carb and left side ignition just to make sure there is not something loose ther but i will bet its fine. thanks drkuhn Posted via Mobile

Thanks i will check it out. I have been searching around the site a little. seems like some folks change the jet size when they put pods on. is that somthing i should look at? I do have pod on it.

I have a 77 650D. Was running great then on my way to work the left carb came loose. I tightened up and all seemed fine but now it has developed a back firing and sputter or left side. I am going to check compression tonight, hoping i did not burn a valve. Anything else you think i should...

Found the sucker last night. Grey wire on Grey floor. Was hidding very close to the chair I had hung the harness over when I was stripping the frame.

Thanks, I figured that it must be something like that. Now to try and figure out where it ran off too. Spent two hours last night searching the shop. Really pissed me off. :banghead:

Yea, I down loaded the diagram and I have the batt (red/white) wires ran correctly and then I have the orange jumper that connects one have of the coil curcuit, but then it looks like I am missing a connector for the other half of the coil curcuit. It looks like I a missing a conector that...

I putting my 77 xs650D back together and I think I might of lost a connector.:doh: Attached is a pick of where I am at. Does anyone have a pick of what I should be looking for? I've searched my shop and have come up empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

77 is correct. The aftermarket shocks and mufflers are correct also. Had a run in with some think sand about 20 years ago. Did one muffler and one shock in.
