Passenger foot peg, exhaust mounting stud on a special is stripped, options?

Thanks for the responses. I did use a 12mm - 1.25 thread die to clean up the threads. I had to cut off the first 1/2" of the stud, which left enough stud to mount the footpeg, but not enough to use to mount aftermarket exhaust, also. I have taps and dies, will drill and tap. Found a 12mm/1.25...

Passenger foot peg, exhaust mounting stud on a special is stripped, options?

Passenger foot peg, exhaust mounting stud on a special is stripped, options?

I haven't quite figured out how to operate this site. I'd appreciate some pointers on how to ask a question. Do I have to invite certain people, or just do what I'm doing here? I do have an XS related question, though; I have buggered up threads on the 12mm footrest mount stud on a Special...

Thanks for the info. Although, I did some more searching since posting this, and found the reason behind his retirement. So sorry to hear about the back stab. Wouldn't happen to be Floridians, would it?

    Breather Plate

Thanks for the response. Yes, that's the culprit. Do I understand that it's not a big deal if it's not in place? Or, will there be a large amount of oil coming from the breather?

    Breather Plate

I just put an engine together - getting ready to put it in the bike when I found that the "breather plate" was still on the bench. What are the problems faced if I run the bike without the bp installed?:wtf::banghead:
