Yea I didn't type long. But I got what you were saying. My cam sprocket walked off center and was hitting the head. I got it. Sending it back down to Hugh.
I had just rebuilt my motor last summer. At 50 miles and then again at 500 miles I had found small microscoptic aluminum chips in the filter. Super small but a lot. I had checked the clutch to make sure it was installed and spaced out as it should be. (It was). I had just removed the head...
I had just rebuilt my motor and ran into the same issue. I used a impact screw driver and walked all the screws in evenly. I didn't go super crazy hitting them. Just a nice love tap and walked em all in. Hope this helps.

hopefully this is my problem. I will remove it once again free up the neutral detent and reinstall no gasket see if it helps. Possibly my actual copper washer is to thick and not allowing the spring to expand into the dent. Im sticking up with this theory till tomorrow so i can get a few...
When i took the neutral detent out, should it stick together as 1 unit? mine did. Also i saw it stated it uses a gasket and im using a washer, could it be that the washer is to thick? or am i spending to much time on 1 element of the puzzle? This is hopefully a easy fix that i am stressing.
I will be examining it more closely this week. Im sure i will have some more questions. I just finished this motor and finally got to ride it 1st time all summer. Id hate to take it back out and all the way down for something else.
i had removed the bolt and checked to make sure that the plunger and spring is there. Anyway i can actually check that it does work beside visually just checking to see if it is there.
I had just finished building the motor and finally got to ride it this week. I had just put 50 miles on it to break it in but while doing this i noticed im having a problem in the clutch/trans. It is very diffacult to find neutral when the motor is off. I can find it move the bike a little...
I think its all balls racing will tell you. Put your frame and look up that front end. I believe its that site will tell you what bearing will work.

thanks scabber ill put em in tomorrow. and give it another cycle. Any recommendations about proper break in for these bikes? this is my first motor buid ever. i started it last night and let it run for 25min. then cooled it off.
i had taken off the key lock and brought it to a lock smith. 1st key was expensive since he had to test and cut and repeat. Each key after that was cheap. it didnt take to long. Remenber if you get in a pinch, you can always hot wire it. just connect all 3 wires at the keyswitch together...
The bike is a rebuild stock bore 650. New piston rings. It has K&n open pod filters as well as pandemonium's yo momma free flowing open exhaust. I am running the stock bs34's carbs. Can anyone give me a good starting point for tuneing this motor. I have only done one heat cycle and only...
