no I have not adjusted anything the chain needs to be readjusted but I want to be sure of the problem before I made any adjustments.

It does start when jump starting. I am going to try the advance rod today.

The carbs are fine. I put new fuel lines on and clamps. Owner before me stripped almost every screw. I road a 2014 honda today and it does not even compare to the ride of my xs. I love a challenge or I would of gave up.

That is the position they are in against the cam. I kick and kick nothing. I checked the wires on the points side and they are getting 12 volts. I will pull the advance rod and I already sprayed the hammers with chain lube. THANK YOU very much for all your help.

Sorry about the misspellings I meant took off the valve covers on the exhaust side

I used a flash light through the oil hole and saw the internals moving. Also to off the exhaust side value covers and made sure they were timed.

The kick starter moves moves the cam shaft. The advance unit spins but the hammers stay in place if I move them out the stay out until I push them in. I get everything except the engine starting and turning over.

Would the advance rod binding stop the engine from turning over

I will try that tomorrow. I am hoping it works. I feel I am always working on this bike and never get to enjoy it.
