Yes I was able to get the them fixed, back together, and got it running pretty relibly. Only problem I ran into afterwards was a slight stumble in acceleration in the mid range, due to the jets I'm using I believe. I think I made another post about it but I'd have to do some digging.
Oh wow thanks for the heads up on those screws, there half the cost and look just as good. I'll definitely be using these.
For peace of mind I think I'm just going to get plates and springs so I don't have to open this pig up again lol. Should I only replace the friction plates? I'm going to be...
So I finally had time to tear apart the clutch today and take a look at the plates. Upon inspection all the friction plates appear to be within spec and measured from 2.9mm-2.8mm in thickness. The clutch plates all look unwarped and hot spot free. I measured them and the varied from 1.5mm -...

So I'm having an odd problem with my 1980 XS650 that has seemed to develop within the past couple of weeks. Whenever I go to start the thing with the electric starter, it will crank over perfectly fine but won't fire up until I let off the starter button (when the engine is attempting to slow...
Anyone know if this windshield from amazon would be any good for my xs650 or even fit on it for this fall? I'm looking for suggestions for a windshield that in not too expensive but will keep most of the wind off me. I'm about 5'10" if that helps.
So back to the original question, will a 19 inch rim from a xs1100 fit a xs650 special that has a 19 inch rim? I have a bent rim on my 1980 Yamaha xs650 special that is causing some wobble and was wondering if I could use a xs1100 rim as a replacement.
