valves and cam chain have already been adjusted. I grew up in Lynchburg but I live in Texas now...just haven't gotten around to changing the plate =D

Hey fellas. I have recently re-built my motor and put it back in my bike. Here is a video of the bike running. Please watch it and let me know if you think the motor sounds abnormal at all especially towards the end of the video...also after riding the bike a few times now she makes a "whirling"...

ok so you're suggesting to tighten the lower spanner nut until i feel resistance and then back off that nut how far? then I assume just tighten the top spanner lock nut and she is good to go?

also...after rebuilding the motor that is currently in the bike, it sat for about 2 months with very minimal oil in the bike, clutch plates were soaked in oil originally before engine re-build. I am hoping that the plates are just stuck together.

Hello all. I have recently swapped in an 83 motor into my 78xs650e. My old motor was oil deprived due to a cracked oil pump...anyways. I have done all of the engine rebuild on the 83 and put it into the chassis. Everything runs very well. All timed well, carbs tuned right, Pamco ignition works...

Can anyone tell me the proper steps in adjusting the steering neck on my 78 xs?

Everything else looks good still, I am going to hone the cylinders and put in new rings and pistons as well as new valve guides and valves, the bottom end looked better than the top. She will run again.

Here is a photo of what happened when you have a slow leak and your dipstick plays tricks on you.. it may be hard to see but there are weird worn patterns on the rocker arms and cams themselves

Does anyone know if there are any differences in the Yamaha camshafts from 77 thru 82? Also, I am re-building my entire motor (for the second time) due to me blowing a hole in the right piston. As I removed the top end I noticed that the cams as well as the rocker arms are making a very weird...

Hey guys. I am looking for an auto advance unit. Mainly just need the mounting bracket that has the slot in the back that fits on to the camshaft but I will buy the assembly if I have to. Please let me know!

thanks gary, the handlebars weren't grounding to the frame properly. I fixed it rather quickly after I knew what to look for.

well, now I am even more confused...the dark blue wire I spoke of goes from 2.9 VDC to battery voltage when i switch the lights on and off with the key on...I don't know where it's suppose to go but I still feel like it is part of my problem since it has no home.

Hi fellas, I recently completed a top end re-build on my motor. I begin to re-assemble everything and put the motor back in the bike. Everything appears to be going fine until I try the starter button to turn the motor over to check my ignition timing. I push it and nothing happens. Mind you...
