Giveaway: Pandemonium Brake Kit! (ends 11pm CST on December 17th, 2012)

This is my bike, her name is Tight Squeeze. This bike was built over a period of 18 months has been constantly improving since then. I have since put a round bates style headlight on it and made a rigid mount solo seat. Paint was done by a friend and the pics don't do it justice.

    TCI circuit board is burnt

Thanks for the input guys. I swapped the TCI last night and took it out for a ride, everything is perfect, better than ever. I just hope that I don't fry this one due to some other electrical issue.

    TCI circuit board is burnt

Basically I'd like to know if there are any electrical problems that would cause the TCI circuit panel to burn like that

    TCI circuit board is burnt

I have an 81 and have been having problems that I thought were due to my carbs being too lean in the main jet range but may be from loss of spark. Its progressively run worse and started backfiring when I'd try and throttle through the rough spots. I decided to try looking at the electrical side...

Brake switch built in to rear drum

And a bit more info, inside the drum, when the lever is pulled the piece that pushes the shoes goes over the sensor on the inside and makes a contact. I figure it has to be a break switch but can;t find a pic or parts anywhere.

Brake switch built in to rear drum

Hi guys, I need some help on a rear drum brake switch problem. I bought a stock 81 xs 650 that cam with the rear brake switch that you see everywhere with the spring and two nuts. I bought a rear spoke wheel with a drum brake hub and it looks like the switch is built into it. There's wires...

    Mechanical/Electrical tachometers

thanks for the replies guys, after reading some of the responses I think I should clarify what I mean by electric tach. The actual gauge is a typical mechanical needle gauge but it gets its signal from the ignition pulses. I've included the blurb about it from the site and hopefully a link to...

    Mechanical/Electrical tachometers

right on, thanks. I wasn't sure because xs650direct sells an electric tach and it says it works with the 80-84 stock ignition system. I'm just going to go with the mechanical and keep it simple. If any one has any opinions on benefits of an electric tach that would be great.

    Mechanical/Electrical tachometers

Hello everyone, Longtime listener first time caller. I'm away from my bike right now and trying to order some parts. I've got an 81 xs650. I want to buy a mini tach for the bike and want to know if the bikes built after 1980 have electronic tachometers? I've only had the bike for a bit and...
