77'BS38's with push in main nozzle??

I have a 1975 XS, everything is stock. I am rebuilding the carbs. I removed the Needle Jet (aka Main Nozzle, I think) and found the o-rings to be in bad shape. I acquired the Chemical-Resistant Viton Fluoroelastomer O-Ring from McMaster-Carr 1 mm Wide, 4 mm ID, from and having difficulty getting...

    Electrical Issues

BTW, this problem, as I recall, began when I installed an LED bulb (tired of replacing broken filament bulbs). I think it has remained though I've returned to the 1157's thinking it would solve the Indicator Light constantly being on issue.

    Electrical Issues

I opened the bucket and found a black wire belonging in a double connector out of this connector. No more of the turn signal indicators (both) going on with the headlight on. As to the Stop Lamp Warning Indicator going on with the application of either brake, thus far I've disassembled the tail...

    Electrical Issues

Sorry 650 Skull, I forgot to mention in my post that the rear tail light comes on using the hand lever or the foot brake pedal. Today is the first day I've had to go out to the garage and go after it as you describe. Thanks so much for helping!

    Electrical Issues

On my bone stock 1975 XS 650 I have the following issues: 1) When I hit the brake pedal or the hand brake the red "Stop Lamp" goes on. Not having a manual, is this telling me there is an issue or that the tail light is coming on as it should? If there is an issue, what are some things often...

Looking For Mechanic in So. Fla.

I just don't have the time to give to getting my XS running properly so I'd like to find a respected mechanic in Palm Beach County or North Broward County. I believe it's a carb related. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, I will be putting her up for sale. First place finisher...

The unknown molex connector on my stock 1975 Xs 650

A short time back I was asked to post a picture of this Molex connector which I do not find on the wiring diagram. The wire colors are white w/ red tracer, black, green and brown. I find no corresponding Molex connector for it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bhrr7tta0uurb0p/2016-07-28 15.39.42.jpg?dl=0

    Problem Remains...

My totally stock 1975 XS650 continues to have the same issue, a bad miss under heavy acceleration. I have less than 1500 miles on a professionally rebuilt engine. It ran perfectly until recently when the abrupt miss began. I have a new fully charged battery, new plugs. I have adjusted the cam...

Unusual Molex Connector on '75 XS650?

Upon removing my gas tank I found a male, four pin Molex connector with no corresponding female Molex plug. To me it looks totally like an OEM part. The four wires are green, black, brown and white with a red tracer. In looking at the wiring diagram for the 1975 XS650 I find no Molex connector...

    Timing My 1975 Stock XS650

Thank you so much for your reply. Here's what I've done. I've rotated the crank shaft with my finger over the right side spark plug hole to ensure that I am on the compression stroke. Then I carefully turned the crank shaft using a 17 mm socket counter clockwise and got the line on the rotor...

    Timing My 1975 Stock XS650

So far I've done the cam chain tensioner, tappets, set the points and now want to check the timing, in that order. But I'm having problems trying to set the timing using my 12 volt probe light and/or my multi-meter. So here they are (thus far). 1. As I turn the base plate, the points don't touch...

Headlight Bucket Dampers for 1975 XS

Hi Guys, Correct part # is 447-84345-00-00. Was told that 447-84345-60-00 "will work", "is the same", "superceeds", etc. It's not the same and won't work. Does anyone know where I can get two 447-84345-00-00 or know of an alternative? Thanks!
