What have you done to your XS today?

Got my XS650C running in preparation for sale, it looks good, the engine sounds exactly right.......and all would be perfect if only it would run reliably on two cylinders.:banghead: The left is great, the right is backfiring.....so now it's back on the bench with the carbs stripped....the...

    Let's See The XS's

I don't think that is the case, because there are still plenty of bikes even now that only have single disc brakes.....The CB750K series, for instance, didn't get twin discs until the F2 in 1978........ they would have to pass type approval, but it seems to be the case back then that...

    Let's See The XS's

Did the European \ non US 76 C models get twin front disc? I'm not sure if the C model ever came to the UK, but those we did get came with twin discs.....it always seemed to me, back in the day that the US got the first examples of everything and the best colour schemes, and Europe got handling...

    Let's See The XS's

Here are the XSs I've been lucky enough to own over the last few years......starting with the big ones......(which I no longer own) This is a pic from the 1980s....and it's reversed....that fairing is a John Mockett design...the top section turns with the handlebars...bizarre and utterly...

What have you done to your XS today?

Today, I had a bit of spare time, so I thought I'd take a look at the XS2 master cylinder. And then, I wished I hadn't. Looks like I'll be getting this one re sleeved....:poo:.

Wanted - Wanted Yamaha Key #2616

A little village called Ivychurch, in the heart of Romney Marsh.....roughly in the middle of nowhere by south east UK standards:D Manston is currently closed as an airport, while an argument rages over what to do with it :(

Wanted - Wanted Yamaha Key #2616

Thank you.....I have scoured ebay and haven't found an original key yet.... I learned along the way that Yamaha key blanks are quite varied; I know which blank I need and I can get a copy key cut in the UK which I will do, but I'm hoping someone on here might have a bunch of old keys or a long...

Wanted - Wanted Yamaha Key #2616

As per the title I'm looking for a matching key, hopefully genuine Yamaha (as per the one in the photo) with the plastic head, to make up a set of two for my bike......no one likes having just the one key! I'm in the UK but happy to pay whatever it costs for postage etc.......... Mick.

What have you done to your XS today?

I made a start on my recently acquired XS2. The last inspection sticker on the bike was 1975 in Kentucky, but I don't know if that means anything or not. The inside of the tank looked bad, it has been filled to the brim with white vinegar for a week.....today I emptied it, threw in a couple of...

    Mailman’s XS2 a full on restoration

The Heiden part is identical to the idea that Jim had in post 2888 where he suggested a bevel to the collar which would allow an O ring to be compressed. I have a lathe, but there was mention of this collar being made of particularly hard material, so I think I will just include one in my next...

    Mailman’s XS2 a full on restoration

I would guess someone with a lathe could take the standard collar and turn it down to copy that, it shouldn't be too hard to find a suitable O ring.

    Mailman’s XS2 a full on restoration

Thank you, I hope to have fun with it...between the trials....when I bought it, the bike came with a handbook which is a rare thing in itself so I was very happy about that.....and overall I can't complain about the condition, but there was just the one key, number 2616 which if my...
