Where does the brown/ white wire go?

I figured it out! The brown/ white does go in between the two black ones! But soldering could maybe melt the plastic carrier? Any tips on avoiding that would be really appreciated.

Where does the brown/ white wire go?

I was out on a ride ('78 XS650E; no canceller) recently when the turn signals died. I took the switch apart and it appears that the solder connection on the end of the brown/ white wire failed. The solder on the end of the wire bears the impression of one of the rivets on different pieces of...

    loose barbs in carb holder

I put everything back together yesterday- AND IT STARTED! It sounds great! I'd been eyeballing the synch process- access to the adjustment screw would appear to require tank removal and splicing in some fuel line to make it into a "remote" fuel source, but I'm wondering if synching is really...

Thank you; I really appreciate the input. There's a certain degree of anxiety involved when you approach a vintage machine from a position of ignorance.

I've been looking and can't find a specific torque setting for the machine screws holding the manifold to the flange. Anybody have this information? Thanks.

I wanted to follow up, with thanks. Mike's barbless, '78-appropriate manifolds arrived; I marked from the tin holders and the old manifolds, centered and screwed each manifold to a hefty mahogany block on the drill press so I had a reasonable chance of drilling plumb and square; drilled (nothing...

I searched through some gaskets I'd been given for my SR500, and there are two which are quite thick, and appear to be a perfect match. Any tips on removing the old ones? They're solidly adhered to the head. Also, I understand a silicon gasket dressing is usual. On both head and manifold? Many...
