Leo. Definitly looking for some ideas. Top end and exhaust are the two biggies right now. Also paint. The darn thing runs great but needs some tlc. Can't wait for some warmer weather.

I have an 81'. .004 in. .006 ex. per yamaha mechanic wha hasn't steered me wrong yet. Clymer had wrong specs. .0025in. .006 ex. Mine runs good at the .004 and .006
Make sure your alternator brushes are good. I've got an 81 and if they get to low and the battery starts discharging my bike does the same thing. Check the brushes and make sure battery is fully charged.
There was a jump in my gas mileage. Went from about 50 to 55 mpg. Now I have to pull my carbs because I found my filter for the petcock lying in the gas tank and I think I sucked up some crap. Idling rough and gas mileage dropped way off. Drained the float bowls and running better. Will see what...

Just came back from removing the petcock and saw your post Sundie. Dead on. What a pain in the butt trying to fish that filter out of the tank. Reinstalled and everything seems fine. No leaks. Afraid how much crap got sucked through the carbs. Thanks
