What is the Value of the resistor in the lighting circuit of an XS650D

Thanks. I don't have a parts list and didn't know the part number. This is better than having to cauble something together. Again, Thanks for the info

What is the Value of the resistor in the lighting circuit of an XS650D

I can guess at the wattage since it will be the max wattage of the headlight, so using an LED H4 I have 15 watts. To give a bit of pad I could use a 20 watt resistor. The problem is I still need to know the resistance. If I take the maximum wattage of the low beam side I can probably...

77 "D" No Headlight voltage, Where is this resistor located?

Back around 1983 it happened to me just as you described. Riding my Moto Guzzi V50 on a country road on a moonless night near Warrenton, VA, in a high speed sweeper, I suddenly lost my headlight. No reduced power to high beam, just darkness. Fortunately I was familiar with the road and just...

What is the Value of the resistor in the lighting circuit of an XS650D

What is the resistance and wattage of the resistor connected between the headlight high beam and the dimmer switch. I can't find the one I took off the bike when I started this project so need to replace it. The color coded schematic shows it connected with a yellow wire from the headlight...

What gauge wire for starter motor?

Thanks. I used 6 gauge for both the battery positive and negative cables running from a group 24 automotive battery in the sidecar trunk to the connections where the original bike battery was located. So I went ahead and used the same 6 gauge for the starter motor. The original battery box...

What gauge wire for starter motor?

I am finally getting around to wiring my XS650D/Velorex Sidecar outfit. It has been a long time since I started this project (life keeps getting in the way) and I have replaced the original wire harness with one from Mikes XS. I can't find the original wires from the battery to the starter...

What Spark Plug for Heiden Tuning 750cc big bore kit

Does anyone have experience with which spark plugs I should use with the Heiden Tuning 750cc big bore kit? I was just going to pick up some BP7ES plugs but thought I would ask first if they are appropriate for this mod? Thanks, Nelson

Correct Jetting for XS650 bumped up to 750

All is saved. I took your idea one step further...I prepped the carbs by inserting tight fitting wood pegs into the 2 holes in the bottom of the slide then put hot water in a metal coffee can on a single burner hot plate I use in my shop for chores such as this. I then made a wire bale to...

Correct Jetting for XS650 bumped up to 750

Thanks for the info. My new problem, discovered after attempting to take the carbs apart for cleaning. is that both slides are frozen tight in the bores. This sidecar rig has been sitting in the shop for about 20 years. it was only a couple of years ago that I started to rebuild the bike at...

Correct Jetting for XS650 bumped up to 750

Thanks. I was wondering if that would make a difference. I'll check this out but now I have another problem. The slides in my carbs are frozen tight. I have one spare BS38 that was disassembled and cleaned but not reassembled about 20 years ago. It looks to be in good shape. I might have...

Correct Jetting for XS650 bumped up to 750

I am cleaning the B38 carbs on my 77 XS650D getting ready to reinstall them after rebuilding the engine. I have installed a Hayden Tuning 750cc big fin cylinder block and have turned the crank 83 degrees. What do I need to do to the jets on the carbs for the larger displacement? I am not...

Thanks Gary. My OEM service manual did not have a cable routing guide. I really app;riciate this!

    What is this electrical part?

Thanks. It had aftermarket horns so you are probably correct. I've been working from my Haynes and Climer manuals. As I recall I do have an OEM Yamaha shop manual somewhere. I'll just have to spend some time searching.
