Too much generalization here for scare tactics. I have been using phosphoric acid on restoration work for over 30 years. I first started by using DuPont's phosphoric acid. It is used as a etch, prior to spraying primer. This is a top notch refinishing company, seeing PA. I soon learned I didn't...

You just go to Home depot, buy some phosphoric acid for $15 and fill the tank with that. I use it often. It's cheap and it works. No need for another gimmick label, wasted money.

if one light to one light, shouldn't need a diode. My Kaw was twovlights, but I went to one, thus the diode.

I don't have my XS any longer. And it's been a long time since I did this. But it is doable. I had a Kawasaki that I used Harley dash lights and used a diode to keep the current from going back on one side of the circuit.A diode can act as a "one way valve". However, I do not remember using one...

If you gave it to me ready to paint I could give you a price. But yours needs work.

You don't need heat paint. I would clear the cover. Then I would spray the white, I would wet sand the white off, leaving it in the letters. I would then reclear it all.

The tank has recessed letters and you want inside to be white?
