    You can get them brand new out of India - they're popular/common on Enfield bullets (where I'd experienced one). I'll try to borrow one locally to see how it might fit before shelling out the $185 or so for the set. On welding - MIG is okay to use for such fabrication?

    Guys, My 78 XS650E was previously owned by an engineer, and was laid up apparently some 10 years ago. He's drained fuel from carbs, and the oil looks clean, but I might drop it to be safe. Battery long gone, but I have an okay one to sub in. Compression seems good. My gut says check spark, new...

    It's the 16" vs 18" thing more than anything - if I can find a decent 18", I'd be tempted.
