    Scam going around forums

I just received a pm for my wanted ad that doesn’t pass the smell test. It included a phone number to text. a google search on the number leads to scam warnings from other classifieds forums. Xs650 user name vibes92040

    Wanted - Wtb: bratstyle seat

Looking for the xs650 seat from the bratstyle shop in Japan. Looks like they’re not selling them anymore. Anyone holding? Yes, I know I could make a similar seat. Looking for the real McCoy.

    Rear Wheel Spacer Loose

I just came in from the garage doing the exact same thing with the same results- a bit of a space between my bearings and the spacer and top hat that goes in between. I should've had a closer look before removing the old ones to see if there was some play with the old set up.

1982 XS650 Heritage Special highway RPMs.

Ditto. I had a 1980 special that had the 17/36 gearing. It was ridiculous. Michael Morse recommended not going smaller than a 32 to avoid clutch drama in hilly areas (not a problem in SK). I also think going smaller than a 32 could make things a little snatchy in slow tight turns in urban...

    speedo drive seal?

Hi guys, I'm trying to sort out a new to me 1975 xs650b. I've been getting a bit of a splatter on the hub around the speedo drive. I pulled the front wheel off today out came what looked like a little bit of water. Am I missing a seal or something? I took a few pics, one of the speedo side of...

    early BS38 question

I have a few boxes of parts lying around from another bike that came with the 75. I think it's a 77, and the bs38's are slightly different. my 75 has plastic outlets on the bowls, the 77's are cast in the bowl. the 77's have a bar connecting the two, and a sync screw in the middle as opposed...

    early BS38 question

interesting, thank you. that thickens the plot, I suppose. my bowls are stamped "H", and every other part looks as though it matches. both have bs30/96 style pilots, small round mains, all stock spec sizes. proper 256 series mixture screws, according to the carb guide. the threads go all the way...

    early BS38 question

Hi, stupid question of the day here- I'm rebuilding a set of early bs38 carbs from a 1975 xs650. I was about to put the diaphragm springs back in, and just noticed that the two springs that I have are different lengths. Is this how they're supposed to be? Or did a PO mess up?

    BMW R65 vs xs650

thanks for the info guys. it means a lot coming from other xs650 riders, as the xs650 is the bike I spend the most time on. I'm finding that the xs650 isn't really fulfilling my needs anymore. I love riding it around town, love the way it looks etc. But when it's time to get on to the...

    BMW R65 vs xs650

I've been getting the itch to get a new bike and want to hear from forum members who have some experience on BMW airheads. How does the xs650 stack up against the BMW r65? I'm more interested in comparison's in the ride than parts availability but any info is welcome. Thanks fellas.

clutch cush spring repair kit install?

prefect length, no grinding. once snugged down they were flush with the nuts. the allen key I used on the head was a 5mm. the nut needed a 1/2 wrench or socket to hold. the 13mm was a little loose. the 12mm was a no go. I think it was a M8x1.25 thread.

clutch cush spring repair kit install?

Thanks TwoMany, that was helpful. Still no torque specs, so I tightened them to about 18ft lbs or so. Used red loc tite and punched the ends in three places between the nut and bolt when I was done. 5twins, I took a few pics, hope this helps.
