'75 650B Charging System Guidance Needed

I DECIDED TO DO A BIT OF DIGGING TO SHARE MY ELECTROSPORT EXPERIENCE FOR ANYONE ELSE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. THERE HAS BEEN NO EDITING TO ANY OF THESE COMMUNICATIONS - THEY ARE VERBATIM. I HAVE PUT THEM IN DATE SEQUENCE OLDEST TO NEWEST. IT'S QUITE A STORY.....

"Wouldn’t i have overcharging with OEM mechanical regulator if everything was switch related?? Why do us both have acceptable charging with factory unit and with same non oem one we do not? Why does OEM one not overcharge even IF switch it giving a tad of resistance?" Hello All I just got...

Type of gas to use for 1974 XS650

I run 89 octane non-ethanol which is available at numerous gas stations here in Florida. Apparently it's widely used by boaters, which we have a lot of. Before sticking with the non-ethanol I... like many others... believed the higher the octane the better. I've noticed absolutely no...

But lord only knows how each was identified by part # through the years as packing disappeared and they were re-tagged. And Isuppose there’s also the...

Yes, I caught it after taking pics and posting. Didn’t see the sense in reposting a day later. That pic was taken a couple of months ago. The switch is perfect. Thank you though

'75 650B Charging System Guidance Needed

Update: I owe it to all that have been guiding me to somewhat end the story. I've been delayed through the holidays and my contribution to being a Covid statistic. After the thorough cleaning of the ignition switch and all connectors and proving out no voltage drop I put the replacement...

    Tachometer Cable Mystery

Closure! Followed the advice and ordered on from Mike's XS (which is the Motion Pro). I asked them to measure it first and it's longer than advertised. It's on the bike and issue is resolved. Bizarre how numerous "NOS" cables could all be different lengths :umm: Than you all for your input!!!!!

    Tachometer Cable Mystery

Yup, and that's time I don't want to loose. Not now that I see this is easily taken care of getting away from the claimed "NOS" So I learned about motion pro, that Jim apparently grows cables like weeds and that just b/c you receive a NOS part with a correct numbered label it doesn't make the...

JETMECHMARTY - I agree, but why would that PartShark site show it as available when Partzilla (probably the biggest dist. of parts) doesn't? I can't see Yamaha still making this part and PartShark as having it but not Partzilla. Unless they're selling a replica cable :umm: Not being familiar...

GOOD EYES JIM !!! 1954 BSA C11G Gearbox I've been bouncing from a total rebuild of that bike and the Yamaha AT2 that I had started just before I rolled the BSA onto the lift "just to see if I could get it started" and then the charging issue with the XS660B... this cable being the last piece...
