Called Mike up today and ordered my carbs! Can confirm he's wanting to cut back on a lot of xs stuff. He did say he may still sell some xs parts still through his brake business. I don't blame him on wanting to be able to relax. He's 72 so I'd say he's earned it. But man if he's not the nicest...
Hope I can still order his vm34 kit on Monday! Been waiting for some spare cash to pull the trigger on them. Hopefully the same thing that happened when I ordered a pamco doesn't happen. Ordered the pamco and a couple days later got a refund and he was done. Apparently I have bad timing when it...
Just want to give a huge thanks to Jim for answering all my questions on building and wiring this! Just got done hooking it all up and am proud to say that it works beautifully! No more boiling my battery from using the cheap Chinese reg/recs lol. This setup now caps it at 14v while riding...
I've already ungrounded the black brush with nylon screws and have it fed switched power. That's why I figured I'd just go with the newer style again. The racetech reg/rec it came with was the later type. But it was already on the bike and they didn't have the brushes ungrounded. So I don't know...
No worries. I do appreciate all your help! I'll do some digging around and see what others suggest for one. Might have to just make one like yours. Thanks again!
Lol yea I supposed i shouldn't have expected much from a fleabay cheapy! I've glanced at a few of the threads on making your own. I may have to try that out. I like how clean the one you made looks! If I don't make one do you have any recommendations on a good type A reg/rec to get? I wouldn't...
Well I grounded the green brush and when running at idle it jumped to 14+, reved it up a little bit and it went up to 17+. Then... the reg/rec went "poof" lol. It's toasted now, but it was a cheapy anyways lol.
Yup the reg/rec is for a 80-83. I made sure to get the newer one so I didn't have to change the wiring. I have the black brush wire ungrounded and fed off a switched power. It is getting like 12.3-12.4v at the brush.
Ok so a little while ago I bought a xs650 bobber. It's got a 77 motor and an 81 chassis. When I bought it it was like 75% done. The wiring was not done at all. So I had to wire it up. I followed the xs650 chopper simplified wiring diagram to wire it up. I'll attach the the diagram. The bike came...
I have a new weld on chain tensioner I bought from tc Bros a little while ago that I'm looking to trade or sell. It just won't fit where I need it. From looking at pics and measuring it looks like one of the monstercraftsman clamp on one's would work. I'd prefer a sprocket one but a skate wheel...
Well they said my coil won't work with a boyer. So looks like I'm stuck with a $50 coil I can't use unless I get my hands on a Pamco. Still can't believe he retired after I finally ordered a Pamco unit. Would have never ordered this coil if I hadn't ordered the Pamco first. But instead of...
