This is how my '80SG project ended up. I've already sold it locally. It was a fun project and a great walk down memory lane. MANY THANKS to the forum members that directly or indirectly guided me along! Now, what's next...:wink2:

Well, that's ok...don't sweat it...I was just curious to see how the weld broke off. The weld on my mufflers look really strong. I agree with 5twins about using more than one bolt...I may try to find some bar stock that is long enough to go from the muffler directly to the hanger.

hotrdd, I'd be interested in seeing a photo of the broken mount. Can you post 1 or 2?

I didn't have the hangers so I had to get them from ePlay. I got 'em installed but the result looks a little different from yours, 5twins. Maybe the mufflers have the mounting welds in a different location now... Anyway, I really like the mounting. MUCH better than what I was...

Never mind...I'll put an additional circle clamp on the head pipe and attach it to one of the mounting holes directly under the engine. :)

I've installed MikesXS parts #07-0758 headpipe & #07-0015 mufflers on my '80SG. But, I can't seem to find a good mounting solution for the mufflers. Right now, I'm using the hard mount for the rear foot pegs but this is not really a good long term method. I did see a picture (and video) of a...

Its a SWAG, but it sounds to me that you've got AC voltage/current flowing in your ignition circuit where you don't want it. That would explain why it runs raggedy when the alternator is connected. Sooo,... 1. Look for a wiring short of the white alternator wires to frame. When the AC goes...
