My aftermarket master cylinder would not bleed. It turns out that one of the tiny holes yellowdog mentioned above was blocked from the factory. I ended up carefully chasing with a fine strand of wire to open up. The unit has worked great since.

Was wondering what everyone is using on tires. I know tire shine is a no no for safety reasons, but am curious on some safe products to clean the rubber.

Finished the install of the new seat cover. Turned out alright (thanks to Mailman for the great tutorial thread). Also received the Standard headlight brackets from eBay. Just need to treat some rust on the insides then I can pull the forks and install.

Thanks for the heads about being still being able to get oem. I will have look into sourcing. My option was more of a stop gap/ cheap alternative for when the correct part was not readily available.

Found another meter damper option for our gauges. I know the originals are now being reproduced, but Xs650direct is out and mine had started to disintegrate. Picked these up at the hardware store for about $8 each Canadian. They are a nice tight fit and do not interfere with the trip meter...

Ok. Last question, I promise. Can anyone provide the distance (centre to centre) of the mounting bolts for a standard round tail light?

One last question, that is semi related.... I know the North American Standard and Special fenders are different configurations, but has anyone had any luck adapting a Standard tail lamp bracket to a special fender? I am assuming the angle of the tail light might differ drastically when swapping.

Was looking through xs650 direct for Standard tail light options for my conversion from Special and stumbled upon this: Was this actually an option for later model European market standards? If so, what tail light bracket was it mounted to? I haven’t been able to find any definitive pics...

The OEM washers are a special hybrid type that as Wingedwheel mentioned, are almost and interference fit on the bolt. I don't think copper would be soft enough to provide enough sealing (even after annealing). Last time I purchased the Yamaha ones, they were a couple bucks cdn each, but were...
