Anyone have a rotor puller they could float me for a PMA install? I can hold it for the next guy or ship it back. I'm in Oregon so the closer, the better..
There is an o-ring/ grommet in there. Trouble is the cap wont screw on tight. Right when it gets just about snug, it pops onto the next thread. I've had to duck tape (my new coils) since I installed them. Its getting to be a pain cause the vibration will eventually want to back the plug wire...
Anyone know of an coil upgrade I could use on a points bike?
I bought a two new coils from Mikes
about a year ago and the tower caps just wont screw on tight enough. Probably some cheap chinese garbage.. I looked through previous posts but the links seem to be outdated.
79' XS650

gggary, if you mean cutting out at full throttle, no. This was just me riding it for a few weeks. And yes, i did lean the jet needle one step.
Tried to get those 140 jets awhile back but pandemic had everything on back order. Ill try again.
Ive recently done some mods on my ‘79. Uni pods, Mikes pipes, shorty muffs and some jetting: 137.5 mains and 30 pilots. The bike runs good and starts in 3 kicks or less consistently. I pulled the plugs after maybe 100 miles and noticed the white porcelain around the electrode is a orangish...
Thought I’d throw up some cool pics of the bike running with a thermal camera on it.
I went out for about a 6 mile putt to warm it up. The bike was around 205 F on both sides. You can pick up one of these cameras fairly cheap like $280 i think (work paid for it):)
Tekk, had to wait for a sunny(er) day for pics. I used a diagram I found right here in the tech section from Jayel and added in turn signals.
The breaker and fuse box are inexpensive Amazon buys. I Coulda put everything on three circuits but it was just easier to wire in a forth. Less things to...
Pandemic project... Rewired my 79. Got rid of all the excess dumb relays and light checker do dads. Wanted to go with a smaller headlight bucket but where the hell would you hide all the wiring?? So I kept the stock headlamp. Added some new smaller gauges and a whiskey throttle. Black Betty...
I just put a Biltwell whiskey throttle on my scoot. Stock cables wouldnt work so I ordered this:

About $50 shipped to your door. The contents of the kit I believe give you enough to make two cables, so you should be good...
Anyone know of similar bikes with the same hookups for a slighlty longer speedo and tach cables? I plan on running some new gauges and they seem kinda tight. Especially if I want to tilt them slightly.
New vendors or used models, as long as they plug and play.
I bought a stock ignition coil recently from Mikes. The tower caps wouldnt stay tightened down. After about six back and forth emails about a replacement, they seemed pretty persistent to wear me down and I quit contacting them. Now I have duct tape holding my new plug wires to my new coil...
