hello I have a 76 standard but it has a1980 stator. It has original reg and rec for 76. Do I need the plastic screws? thank you

hello changed my 1980 bs34 carbs to pod filters bike ran great but rich so I kept leaning it out.I am at1 turn out on one side and 1and a quarter on other. I started at 2 turns out before filter change.Bike runs great through all gears right up to 80 miles per hr .Curious as to why carbs...
