    For Sale - 1977 XS650 Cafe Racer Excellent +++

    Uh, since you asked... I live in Brooklyn and saw this on CL and thought it was high. It caught my eye because I'm deciding between making my 77 (see avatar) nicer vs buying a bike that's already nice. So IMHO as a person that has been following the ads compulsively for the past 5 years, I'd...

    Tire sizing question.

    I actually read that elsewhere but temporarily forgot, thanks for the reminder, and for all the other info!

    Tire sizing question.

    Hi fredintoon, Thanks for this. I don't doubt that you know what you're talking about but I'm just trying to fully understand. You say a 3.25 is 'square', I get that. But how is a 90/90 not 'square' when that's what the numbers say? 90mm wide and 90mm high? Sorry but I'm not the kind of person...

    Tire sizing question.

    I know this is an old thread but it's gonna be new to somebody else just like it was to me. I'm adding to this because I was somewhat appalled at the incorrect info that I found when I searched this topic so now I'll humbly offer what I've just learned. Stock tire size for my '77D is 3.25/19...

    Amazing how safe I felt on the interstate, I think I almost died 5 times this morning taking my lady friend to work in Manhattan. That's the Brooklyn Bridge about a 1/4 mile in the distance.

    Spitting a little oil, maybe it was overfilled? That's one of the reasons I changed it, so I could put less in and all the same brand. Don't know if anything change but I'll clean it and keep an eye on it now.

    For once! This pic is from a scenic over look in Jersey. They get a lot of jokes but it's a beautiful lush place full of 2 lane mountain roads. It's only letting me upload one pic at a time but I only have a few.

    I'm home! The only part of the bike that failed is the shift spring, that's a drag but relatively small. Also I lost one glove, the second time I lost only one glove so now I have two matching left gloves. Awesome. I tried to post pics but it isn't working for some reason, I'll try again...

    Oh I didn't realize that pic was on our front page, that's Sharon with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Doyle Bramhall II. I'm in the Dap Kings, none of us are in that pic. BTW, I asked Derek if he rode, he said "I'm not allowed to ride motorcycles, I was in the Allman Brothers' Band for 10...

    Help a newbie on a road trip!

    I was fully prepared to chicken out and ship it but the extra $800-$1000 would've made the bike WAY more than it's worth. I already hit the high end of the scale with the purchase price so if it can't make it 900 miles I definitely paid too much. We'll see... If y'all knew how I'm rolling...

    Help a newbie on a road trip!

    Today I had some small, I hope, issues. I checked the oil and it seemed a little low, although I was confused about whether to screw the dip stick in or not when measuring. I added half a quart of Walmart 20W50 motorcycle oil in the AM. During the ride I did some up and down shifting without the...
