    Dick's Street Tracker

I bought some 90 deg. petcocks from TC Brothers. 1/4" pipe fittings so I brazed (2) 1/4" half coupling the tanks. My cuts are just like your on the tank. Bike looks great!

What type of petcocks are you using or did I miss something? I have the same tank, same struggles trying to weld it. I just brazed the tank- A lot easier than welding.

Slight scale rust in the tank. If I were to use it I would take some BB's and shake it around for about 10 minutes to clean it up. Reg. UPS will be around $20.00 Thanks,

    My Street Tracker project

That's probably the easiest way to go and a very good looking tank. I'll post pictures of mine as soon as it is complete. My tig skills are not good enough to do a tank properly, so I'm waiting for a buddy of mine to weld it.

    Tank Question

I don't know if all the Enduro style tanks (mines a 1975 DT400) have about the same sized tunnel or not. My issue on my XS2 is that it did not sit low enough- Engine head mounts were in the way. Saw on this forum of another head mount, but that still would not give me enough clearance. Adding...

    buildin' me a tracker

Wish I would have thought of this before I hacked my tank apart... Live and learn. BTW, the stock petcock will interfere, at least on my bike. Adding (2) 1/4" NPT half couplings back a bit farther for some Motion Pro petcocks.

    buildin' me a tracker

Same tank I bought- 1975 DT400- Mine has a lot more dents though! I cut out 8" slots on both insides of the tank from the petcock holes forward- 1.25" wide x 1.25" deep. Formed an 20 ga. angle to weld inside. This "pocket" allows clearance for the top engine mounts.
