So I haven't posted in ages, but I do check in every now and again. Here is my "finished" product. My '79 that I have gone through and made to my vision. I just completed the first try on the seat. Thx.
Great build oddjob! I think you got a deal for that price with a hardtail already welded up. As for the brakes, I think they all look like that when they have been sitting. Mine were the same and a mikes xs (650 direct) piston and rebuild and you'll be good to go.
As the title states, I have a few 1 53/64" expansion plugs, I had to buy a box to get one. Not as easy to find as the guys in the U.S.
I think $5 a plug is reasonable per plug, or if you want more than one we can talk. I can meet up or send snail mail in Ontario. i am not looking to get...
Another option that i was told about is to contact a local welding contractor (rental) as they bring in used/off lease machines all the time. I wouldn't say a rent-all place is the same, as there machines may get a lot of misuse. But the welding only shops lease out for jobs and sell once...
I'm a bit late, but I put a 19" HD front wheel on the back of my xs. I think it was a 6304 bearing I used. That fits the harley wheel (52mm O.D.) and the XS 20mm (I.D.) rear axle. Hope this helps!
Your best bet is a local machine shop. They should be able to make these quick and cheap. I was looking online and found http://vulcanworks.net/ had a bunch of stuff and could prob. make whatever you need.
Thx ChewsVolt. The rear was machined, kind of hybrid because I used Harley Wheels not XS ones. The front on the rear should be robust enough, they do flat track racing on the Harley 19" wheels.
Well I got to ride the beast! It's such a small bike, it feels like i'm riding a BMX down the road. I would still like to get a proper seat, looking into it.
Now what to do next? Rearsets? Battery eliminator? Nah, I'll just ride it for a bit! Lol.
Thx Brassneck. I just took it off the table, have only done a test flight around the block. So no real seat time yet. I hope to change that in the coming weeks and will post up. The bike is small and with the mid mount foot pegs it feels like a mini bike!
been a while, here is some progress. wheels are mounted 19" front and rear. brakes are on, need lines made up. going stock exhaust for now. and i still need a seat! Thx for looking!
