    My cafe build so far...

They sure do look100% better. Should work 100% better as well. As far as my pics go, I post them to photobucket and copy and paste the link.

Picked up my head from the machine shop. Guides were shot. But everything else was in good condition. Here's what we started out with: And now: Next up will be the cylinders once I decide how far I want to hog 'em out.

yes, a bit overkill for me in this stage of the game. I may just get a set of pistons 2 or 3 sizes over stock for now.

Check out THESE jugs!! pics inside

Thanks for talking me to my senses, guys. I was hoping I could get away with leaving them alone, so I guess I talked myself into leaving it prematurely. Wishful thinking. Would be nice if there was something I didn't have to replace. However Angus's idea has got me thinking going with a much...

    My cafe build so far...

Thanks for the good words. Time is easier to come by than cash for me. I wish I was making better progress than I have been but I guess at the same time I'm not really in a rush. That's what I keep telling myself. Truth is I'm really impatient so things move that much slower for me. The head is...

Now that I have your attention... I pulled my head off to do a valve job and now I'm just seeing if I'm on the right track...I'm thinking of leaving them but I could always use a second opinion.

    My cafe build so far...

So guess what? Couldn't get the engine running, so out it came. On the plus side, I'm getting very good at tearing it out. Did a compression test, had 110 psi on the left side, but only could muster 55 on the right. Did a leakdown test and found there to be an issue with the valves. At...

    My cafe build so far...

Alright gang, here's the latest. I assembled all the parts of the hand controls together and installed them on the bars to see how they fit, and I like the way they fit. I plan on installing the engine in the frame to run it for a bit before I tear it all apart again and begin work to the...

I would. I have had a hard time finding info as well. I have a few ideas but not sure what I'm going with. I think I might try using the same mounting style as the xs tank.

Thanks. I'm going with a black and gold paint scheme. Got a few ideas in mind, but nothing concrete yet.

Not much to report, but some progress nonetheless. Swapped out the front forks and rear wheel to the cafe frame, as well as mounted up my new clubman bars. Threw the tank and seat pan back on for mock-up purposes. I can see how it will finally look and I think it works. Also, nice to finally...

    My cafe build so far...

As many of you who live in the Great White North know, painting in the winter sucks. But it CAN be done. I set up a radiant heater I bought from Princess Auto out in my shed and I hang my parts in front of it to warm them up prior to painting, and also to help cure the paint. In between coats I...

    starter barely turns over

I should mention that the starter I have installed was a unit that I took apart and inspected and cleaned. I am ruling out wiring as well, as my battery is new and so is the wiring. I'm pretty sure at this point after some more research it must be a problem with the gears in the engine...

    starter barely turns over

Any thoughts? One thing I've noticed since started this project is that my starter barely moves when I crank it over. I've ruled out a weak battery, no matter what battery I use it does the same thing. I'm pretty confident the starter itself is not an issue either, as I've used multiple...
