5twins, I was able to find a set of 78 damper rods :P They are coming via a gent who had them on ebay. He didn't have the top out springs that you had a photo of/mentioned. I'm not sure if I can have the that hole reamed/drilled out. If it will compromise the integrity of the damping rod. Its 16.4mm on the emulator and the outside diameter(At flat edge) is 16.96mm Not much left

xs650direct says 78-84 now, and Mikes says 77-84 I just noticed my right rear shock is leaking.. WTH?? Someone must be trying to tell me something arghhhh I had them sent to PA for rebuilding and they have never been ridden on :(

Ok, so in reality they shouldn't be advertising the 77 as a year that can use the emulators?

I neglected to mention... I have the 77 damper rods, but the top two photos are from the installation instructions for the emulators. They don't work with my damper rods. Boooo..

Ordering parts ahead of replacement has always been my process... Not any more! Found out I have different dampening rod than what some had in their 77. DOH!!!!
