    Let's See The XS's

Just put the last touches on mine today.

Yeah, I could troubleshoot that wiring, and probably find the problem. Or, this took me 2 evenings to wire up, and I have everything lined up for the parts. It's easier to do it right than piece it together.

This wasn't an expensive bike haha. I like a good project, and can do most work myself. Not my first rodeo. Besides, a few days will give me a chance to finish the tail and re-print my battery box, as well as rewire the entire bike.

Yep, I just ordered the kit- went for Hugh's PMA and the PAMCO system. Will be running headlight and some LED indicators with an LED taillight- Antigravity battery 8 cell though. I will see if I can't find some other places to pull juice. Even with the headlight always on, that thing only pulls...

Fair enough, I'd be running a very similar setup. Thanks!

Well said. My thing is that with the updated combo, it would give me a chance to wire the bike as simply as possible, and have a bike that i'm not worried about a short or frying my 150.00 battery, or have a weird drain. In the past few hours I've gone through and found my current brushes to...

If I do go with the PMA and the PAMCO, the bike is getting entirely rewired, for my own peace of mind. I work on a lot of 80's Porsches- I'll take a motorcycle wiring job all day long! If not, I will look into fixing a lot of the smaller problems. Good notes. I am running a big enough battery...

I'll look into the guide, Thank you. My reasoning for jumping right into the upgraded system (and what drove the concern when I had just got the bike) was some of the wiring is, well, subpar. A previous owner had hacked in a few useless things, and with an upgrade like this system would give me...

    Another PMA/Ignition thread

So, I posted that I just picked up a bike about 2 weeks ago, that was going to be a DD/Cafe racer project. Was going back and forth about the PMA/ Ignition setup and was told by everyone to wait for the original system to fault before upgrading. Well, after today's trip I was having some idle...

    New XS650 Owner- Need advice

Just looked into those- I like the combo and the fronts work fine, but for the classic the only thing I can get the 16" tire in is a MT90 or a 5" tire/ 130/90. Which is quite a bit wider than factory... Edit: After research, I lied. A 5.00 x 16 is what I should be running. Will probably go that...

My thing is is that my "classic style" tire options are very limited with a 19" front and a 16" rear.

Looks like a combination of This and This, correct? Not a bad price haha, Just trying to decide whether I want to deal with spokes haha. Thank you, Yeah mine is in perfect condition so depending on what I do I don't exactly want to ruin a good one.

Figured I should clarify here- I do have the Elect. ignition on the bike currently, it is an '83. I've just seen some conversions back and I wasn't sure what the pull was. Good note on the welding aspect- will keep that in mind. Are the aftermarket systems better? Will look into cutting the...

    New XS650 Owner- Need advice

Picked myself up a small project that is going to be a short commuter bike, has 16k miles, fairly well taken care of, but needs some tires, stuff like that. I had a XS400 years ago in high school that I did a ton of work to, so I know my way fairly well around the bike, but have a few things...
