I used plasti dip. Black base dip and followed it up with plasti dip glossifier. I got everything at Home Depot for around 15.00. I've changed the color a few times on my wheels and finally settled with black. Great thing is if you don't like the color just peel it off, I've got over 1000 miles...

My buddy has a 80 xs special as well and he really likes the ohlins shocks he put on the rear. He also did the R1 fork conversion and says that combo works really well together. Not sure what length his ohlins are but they are longer than the stock rear shocks.

I have their license plate mount/holder and headlight brackets, very nice pieces. I've been debating back and forth about getting their upper triple and having it drilled for a set of their risers, but I just can't sink any more money into this bike. The upper triple and retro but is so clean...

Looks good so far. I used the cognito moto stem as well for for my R1 fork conversion. I would love to tour cognitos shop lol, I would go broke for sure before I left.

For what it's worth I ordered a steering stem for my R1 front end conversion and it fit perfectly, shipping was quick and emails answered within a day. As soon as I get a few extra bucks I'm going to order the upper triple and risers.

I'd be interested in this for sure. Does this work with the disc brake on the 78 specials? If so where do I send my money?

Mounted up my 750 tank and cut the seat pan to fit. I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the fugly seat, I hate it.
