Value is a good helmet and jacket

Hi everyone, A couple of days ago I mentioned I would post some pictures of the helmet. Here they are including the jacket. The pictures do not do justice to the damage and how much they protected me from further harm. Thanks for your encouragement to me and others on the value of good...

Value is a good helmet and jacket

Hi Everyone, Monday coming home and only two miles away, going with the flow of traffic on the 101, suddenly all the vehicles in front of me were slamming on their brakes. No apparent reason I could see. Braking as best I could the bike did get sideways and pitched me off. Never lost...

    Mikuni VM34 jettingquestion, again....

I use premium fuel and in my area and it is generally 91 to 92 octane using the r+m/2 method. Then there mandatory summer blend with 10% ethanol if I remember correctly. Have not had any issues so far. I am still in the process of working with my jetting. With what I have been experiencing...

    Mikuni VM34 jettingquestion, again....

A mystery for sure. It is not listed in the Sudco catalog. I can tell you according to the numbering convention Mikuni uses it would be 3 steps leaner @ .005mm for each step compared to the 159 P6 I am using, the needle while slightly leaner in the beginning seems very rich afterwards and the...

    Mikuni VM34 jettingquestion, again....

I have VM 34's also and live in the same elevation range you are. I agree with grizld1 you really need to know what you have in the carb. My carbs were supposed to be jetted correctly from supplier however they were way too rich. One of the best guides I found was...

November "Specials"only Stock and resto mod Contest

Thank you Marty. Not sure exactly what the conflicting part is. The gold valve for damping, drilled out the stock damping rods as required. I installed non stock rate fork springs from progressive suspension. Stock springs from progressive for a 79XS650 is part #11-1119, rated at 25/35 lbs/in...

    Resistor Caps and Plugs?

Thank you for the link Leo. Very informative. It seems he is using the Ultimate coil with 5K caps and the NGK BPR7EIX plugs. a 12mpg increase at the end of his testing. Very good. The Ultimate coil looks to be a worth addition. Not expecting any magic hp gains just a well running XS.

    Resistor Caps and Plugs?

I have an new yet 8 year old Boyer Bransden Micropower Ignition for my 79. The set up works very well and am satisfied with it. My question is about resistor caps. I installed the recommended 5,000 ohm resistor caps, using stock NGK BP7ES non-resistor plugs and would like to try out the NGK...
